I think that everyone says that. Probably user profile and brand didn't like this engine cuz they didn't go on. Very small time of production and not many cars have this engine. I understand that emissions and regulations push them to delete this engine but they may try someways to alive it. Also it is very reliable engine. For example you buy v8 engine from BMW or Mercedes or another luxury company. You will face big trouble and money loss around between 100-150k KMs but this engine doesn't have that problem. I live in Turkey and I saw a S80 that 450.000 km on clock and there were no major problem, still goes like hell.

@@ibrahimoguz3305 Volvo's owners were swapped the year this car died. Geely is emissions focused as China is really rough on emissions standards (to try to reduce emissions as much as possible to clean up the polluted air). You can tell that Volvo is still trying to crank out performance cars with the T8 and Polestar 1, but it will never be as awesome as this and the S60/V70R (the 850R is cool too)

Can’t you just cut the y-pipe after the middle resonator and make it “almost” true dual? Anyone know what the inside of the middle res looks like? Is it two separate pipes in there or just a chamber where everything mixes together???

Nope. But it is a 60 degree V8. Super unique sound! M600 noble has the same engine.

It's a crossplane crank. But the V angle is 60° so the crankpins each have -30° splits in them to give 90° firing intervals.

It sure is. The 4 catalytic converters are what reduce emissions. The back two mufflers on the Volvo just make it quiet. As far as a noise ordinance, there isn't really one, or if there is an ordinance, I've never seen it enforced. This is my car actually hahah! It still passes emissions every year.
