Not developed by Yamaha. It is designed, engineered and developed by Volvo. Yamaha were contracted to build it, that is all.

That explains the end of the balance shaft being open to the environment. Yamaha would NEVER have done something so stupid.

@@matthewstorm5188😂😂😂. Making fun of the master engine designers of the World, the Swedish? Who has the world record mileage on the original engine? Who has a huge representation amongst the highest mileage cars in the world? (despite being a relatively small company). Yamaha is Japanese, who in terms of automotive engine's has borrowed literally everything from elsewhere.

@ Honestly, my dad had a Volvo that he bought new after graduating from college. I’m not sure what the model was, but it was something from the mid 60s. And that thing was nothing but trouble from the day he bought it to the day he got rid of it. Days after he bought it, an oil seal in the rear end that went bad, causing the rear end to eat itself. He was making a cross country trip at the time, and had to stay for DAYS in a hotel while a new rear end was shipped in. Of course, that wasn’t the end. Other problems included plastic timing gears that deteriorated and premature failure of the exhaust system. In any case, the Japanese may have borrowed tech from many other places. But the one thing they REALLY going for them is quality control and just designing something to last. And in this department, they are LIGHT YEARS ahead of Volvo.

Not really, its quite reliable owing to engine being built in Japan. People in Europe & USA average around 300k Miles on the car before needing major maintenance. Parts are available plenty in UK, USA which can be ordered online & imported to India but are generally cheaper in cost than BMW, Merc or Audi.

3 years in at 160,000 miles and I bought it when it had 136,000 miles, and I've only had the usual maintenance repairs needed for a car that's 17 years old. I haven't been light on the pedal with it either, still a hell of a highway puller for it's weight. The AWD system will chew through front tires nearly annually though, I swear. Hasn't been any more or less of a hassle than most other modern used cars I've had.
