Those are very nice cars....... comfortable and luxurious to drive ......

Finally a video for the gasoline powered XC70s, all others are for diesels and the process in these is way easier because there you have space to put your hands. You are brave sir! This job has been intimidating me for a while now and I've been postponing it, but I guess if you can do it in your drive so can I! The vibrations and squeaks have become unbearable. 63 year old with back pain but I keep rockin! I thank you for doing it and convincing me to do it too.

I noticed the mounts are not the vacuum ones that you see in the other videos.

I also put this job off for about two years. My wife was driving the car most days but when I bought her a new car and I began driving everyday it didn’t take me long to get the job done. I did the video because I couldn’t find an xc70 video on the rear mount, that’s hard one. Good luck to you.

Thank you for this video. I am going to replace my motor mounts this week (2006 XC70) and it looked very easy on the other videos. I will be more prepared now. Keep the XC70 videos coming.

Thank you for your comment. The front mount is easy the rear is more challenging on the XC70 but not impossible. I am working on another video but it will be on my sons 1986 240GL.

this also helped me on the way. But for the tricky bolt in the back I ended up using my 3/8 ratchet with extender - no swivel. Thought that this might be helpful for others :)

Thank you so much. Gonna attempt it myself tomorrow. 2001 V70XC. One of the first. Original mounts.... Wish me luck

Good advice. Mine is the D5 version but I'm thinking it will be pretty similar cheers Chris

Great video. Suggestion for future videos: use a laser pointer to show hard to see parts, bolts, etc.

That is a great idea, I happen to have a couple of those as cat toys.

Thank you very much Kenneth for this video ! How did you extract the rear mount from its place ? It's tight because of propeller shaft and angle gear. I can't see any large enough way to extract it... do you remember how you performed that ?
@kennethburton91654 ай бұрын
@@eketorp you will need to lift the engine up to gain more clearance, have the front mount disconnected while lifting the engine. It’s still a tight fit but it will come out. I also removed the heat shield that is attached to the steering rack. I believe I talked about that in the video.

Nice move on removing the cat hanger but you can snake through with a 1/4 with with a 3/8 adapter and use a magnetic stick for the extension first them the 14mm next

Quick question... does this apply to a 2005 xc70 volvo? And what is that tube near the oil intake.... mine is cracked..it was purchased as is and i just saw the issue with the tube. Car still runs great

The reason I'm writing this is why you replaced the two mounts, because you have a resonance that is noticeable on the handlebars despite the mounts looking good. Have the same problem with the s60 p2 2.3t. Furthermore, I am not a fan of the XC because with Volvo AWD you have to keep an eye on the wear of the tires otherwise it can cost you your transfer case

Nice work, Kenneth! I had no problem getting the nut and the screw out, but how on earth did you get the mount itself out of there without lowering the subframe?
@kennethburton91652 жыл бұрын
I removed the exhaust support braket which gave me enough clearance to drop the mount through that area.
@tacxyt75872 жыл бұрын
@@kennethburton9165 So did I Kenneth! Still no chance. Maybe because I have a diesel? I even took out the turbo intake, but still not enough room to move the mount out. I put all together again and will have another try sometime later. I believe I do have to lower the subframe.
@Jeroen74 Жыл бұрын
@@tacxyt7587 I did this job on a Euro 3 diesel (pre-2005 models) and can't remember taking it out was problematic. I now have a Euro 4 model (2008) which has a bit more stuff packed in that area.

Hay Kenneth i have a xc70 2001 model (P2) do you know if the mount is the same ????
@kennethburton91652 жыл бұрын
Yes I do believe that all the P2 XC70 (2001-2007) front and rear engine mounts are the same.

So I just drilled a hole large enough through the sub frame to get the bottom bolt in and out.😂
