ya think they all 3 failed at the same time? When you have something like this you want to look at fuel trim. fuel trim may show you a lean condition which can make misfire on multiple cylinders. Nice video What to do when i have a multiple misfire..? Code p0300 and it shows me p0301 p0302 p0303 p0304 p0305 How do i know which one ia it? Do I need to change all 5 coils? Thanks

Mulitple misfires would usuualy be something common to all cylinders like fuel or air. Look for vacuum leaks or something else common to all cylinders.

Your issue is probably resolved by now so this comment is for future researchers: My 2008 2.5L VW Rabbit S had a flashing Check Engine light followed by a solid Check Engine light. Additionally, the engine had a VERY rough idle and ran rough at lower RPMs as I shifted through the gears (it usually smoothed out over 3,000 RPM). Because I know NOTHING about cars I searched KZbin, found this video, took my car to O'Reilly Auto Parts and asked them to do a FREE Check Engine Light Scan. They printed out the Code List for me and I had "Cylinder Misfire Detected" on cylinders 1,2,3 and 5...along with some other codes. The O'Reilly representative suggested I perform a Cylinder Drop Test (Google it!) on each of the ignition coils to determine which, if any of my coils were bad. It turns out that I had a bad coil on cylinder 4. I replaced it for less than $30 and the rough engine symptoms abated. All that said, I still had a Check Engine Light. Once again, O'Reilly representative suggested I disconnect my battery to clear my codes (they are not permitted to clear codes, only scan). I did as advised, started my car up and the Check Engine Light was gone. O'Reilly performed another FREE scan and all my codes were gone. As a test, I drove the car about a mile up the road, turned around, came back to the store, and scanned again. Still no codes. KZbin (particularly this video) saved my sanity!

The code wont but the misfire will.

@@CoolAirVw makes good sense. i thought the jerkiness might be from a bad/oily map sensor from a torn pcv diaphragm (confusing throttle position, thus confusing the trans). so you're thinking its the misfire. can i just replace the bad the coil or do all of them? i recently replaced the set.

@@kumbackquatsta if one is bad replace one. If you dont want to deal with the other 3 going bad replace them all. There are other things that can make a misfire other than coils.

@@kumbackquatsta "this code"? You mean 301? NO. 301 means misfire cylinder 1 NOT coil is bad on cylinder one. Look at the diagnostic steps in the video.

We bought a professional scanner for a Amazon and we got our diagnostics just like this and we bought the new cylinders and everything and we got A random multiple cylinders that are misfiring so am confused for the car my mom is desperate to fix it

At 1:16 cylinder 2 had 1 misfire and 5:49 cylinder 4 had 4 misfires? No need to diagnose further?
