@@GodzillaGoesGaga Yes, it was a terrible ordeal but I think it was a human error and not the fault of the machine, at least that’s my opinion

Man, what a heartbreaker! It's only a matter of time with any engine, that even with appropriate use and maintenance, mechanical wear factors will enter into the picture. Best of luck with the process!

Sorry to hear about your FJR. I know these FJR’s are bullet proof and have 76,000 miles on my 2009 AE. My engine feels really powerful, but the YCCS clutch started giving me problems and bike sat at dealership for 7 months and basically destroyed my bike trying to figure out what was wrong with clutch. I’ve committed the bike to someone else but if he doesn’t come get it, you can have it. I’m down in South Texas. Good luck getting it sorted out. Ride safe….

Check you cam chain timing marks . Valves hit piston maybe and bent a valve that hit the spark plug. Hard enough the threads are bent. Amazon has a probe kit $65 to look at piston. Look and see if you have a Green Dot on top of the cam chain tensor. No color Dot on casting it has the original CCT that was upgraded in 2009. That head has to come off after you remove the engine, cheaper to purchase a low mileage used engine.

@@louisbartay5170 Thanks, yeah since this video I have found a replacement engine and installed and it’s back to running like new again. I took the old engine completely apart for the extra bolts and such

Being that the bike is a 2007 and the amount of money you may have to spend, it will probably be more cost effective to get another bike. I’ve been checking out several of the FJR’s for sale on FB and there are plenty to be found at reasonable prices. Most of the listings a several years newer at an average price around $5500-$7000. It’s a shame what happened to your bike because it looks really nice and well cared for. Good luck to you which ever you choose.
@herbiesgarage6813 ай бұрын
@@bensatterwhite5694 Yeah, there’s a lot of good fjr’s out there at good prices. I’ve seen a nice very low mileage 2014 for $8000, that I considered hard on. But my bike is still a very nice bike with the replacement engine in it, runs like a top and fast. I’m enjoying the bike a lot. Thank you!

I just recently had something similar happen to my 09 VFR 800… plug was completely melted… threads completely melted off and my coil pack was completely burnt up…. Mechanic in Salt Lake City Honda shop figured the plugs weren’t tightened cause all 4 were loose… engine was toast and I had no option but to just leave the bike and walk away as I lived 1500 miles in Canada… that was just a month ago…

@@RogerShine-ke9gr Wow 😳 That would be a bummer for sure! I’ve never heard of that happening and especially ruining your engine. Just a thought - you could purchase a cheap endoscope unit to examine the inside of the cylinder. The one I have attaches to your smartphone and uses it’s screen to display the video image. It would be very interesting to find the root cause of the catastrophic failure associated with that cylinder. I did a compression test on my GL1500 when I had a few issues with the bike. I had 200 psi on all six cylinders which was very reassuring to me. I have been using your GL1500 videos when undertaking maintenance work on my Wing, they have been extremely useful. Best regards from Nottingham U.K.

I can understand your feelings but from what I’m told this isn’t the norm for these engines. I guess I got a lemon or an abused bike one or the other. Good luck with your bike, they are great bikes

@@herbiesgarage681 my cousin is a motorcycle mechanic and he serviced this bike since new, I actually had test rode it for him several times because he lost his leg in a motorcycle accident and can't really ride anymore, when the owner listed it for sale I called my cousin and told him to call the owner and I would pay full asking price, because I knew how well maintained it was. Herbie, I'm no master mechanic, but it sounds like a piston ring came apart and got chewed up in the cylinder. Drain the oil and check for metal in the oil pan collector. Second guess, bad valve. Sorry brother, What a mess. I was really hoping that you would have a great solo bike trip to Louisiana on that beautiful bike! I said a quick prayer for you praying that it is something simple. 🙏

Thank you Michael, I just started on some disassembly, pulled the throttle bodies and a piece of valve head is lodged in the intake valve and has the stem bent. I will need a new head for sure. I just have a feeling that it broke the rod when that happened. I’ll know more when I get the head off. Thanks so much for the prayers, it looks like a mess but I would appreciate a prayer for patience. I will probably be in search of a new engine if you hear of anyone having one to sell.
