I love doing my oil changes. First time I did my own I got to see all the F ups that FStone, 15min Oil Change and other shops did, able to repair them and catch other small things before issues got worse. After fussing and complaining my '08 GC is right where I need it to be. I am familiar with every part on it and what it will soon need. I totally depend on my vehicle. Glad I subbed to this man. Thanks! Fun to watch. Just bought a 2008 T&C 4.0 a couple of weeks ago, and noticed a puddle of oil in my driveway. The levels weren't super low, but Belle Tire said that they couldn't check it, but believes it is related to the "oil filter housing". Was checking the net for similar issues.

I never understood why so many people have a problem with doing an oil change. It literally takes less than 2 minutes to pull the plug and filter, a few minutes to let it drain, and then just replace and fill. I love oil changes because they're easy money and give me an opportunity to inspect the rest of the vehicle while I'm waiting for the oil to drain. This vehicle is one of the easiest oil changes I've seen, wait until you try an old Subaru. Honestly this whole process was pretty simple and easy compared to a lot of vehicles I've worked on.

It's messy, there is a lot of waste to deal with. It doesn't pay when you are a tech, and work for a-holes in the industry. I can look at a car without doing an oil change, thank you very much. 19.99 oil changes ruined my appetite for them completely.

Any recommendations on getting the last two bolts off of the exhaust. Have an extension and a swivel and still can’t seem to get them off.

If you can hit the flange with some map gas, on the threaded side, without getting the bolt glowing red, it might come off a little easier. Try not to start the thing on fire. Get a fire extinguisher. That's all the advice I can give you. Good luck!

I got that bad at at a regular parts store. One o-ring I found at the dealer. It is probably re-usable.

RockAuto has the oil pan gasket (6 different manufacturers currently ranging from $10 to $35 for Mopar OEM). They also sell the oil cooler gasket (the one that he says that you can't get without buying the oil cooler for $90) for $4. It is part number FEL-PRO 71830 and is listed under oil cooler gasket in the drop down below engine. Whether or not you replace any of the following gaskets is at your discretion (whether or not they are still functional), but i would recommend getting them if available beforehand. I don't know about you, but I hate going in to do a repair, then having to stop everything to wait while part is ordered/shipped (which can take up to a week or more). Meanwhile, the vehicle is not operational. I made the mistake of not replacing a metallic plenum gasket while replacing valve cover gaskets on my 2002 Hyundai Sonata and I regretted it. On that vehicle the air intake and throttle body assembly has to be removed to expose the valve covers. Unbeknownst to me, the car would not fire up because it was sucking in air at the gasket apparently. Took it to Fire Stone and they charged me $340, because they said I needed a fuel injection cleaning as well (which i probably didn't, but whatever). You may also need the oil filter adapter gasket, which he speeds up after he removes the adapter at minute mark 4:13 in the video. It is listed as oil filter adapter gasket (currently $13.20) and is Mopar part number 4892378AA. The two O rings (which he stated were still good) for the 24 mm bolt removed which secures the oil cooler to the oil pan is listed as discontinued on Rock Auto. There are some mopar e-stores that claim they have them, but after ordering, they send you an email stating that they are out of stock and cancel your order. Only way to obtain these o-rings is to go to a business that specializes in rubber gaskets and o-rings. This requires you to take them the o-rings so they can measure them to ensure the same size. Once I do this for my repair, i will edit my comment with the specifications of the o-rings, since i can't find the specs anywhere online for them. Maybe this will help out another poor soul that is being screwed over by mopar's discontinuance of these o-rings. Also, if you preferred to replace the exhaust gasket, which he used the muffler cement on, I believe this is the part number/description: Mopar 4880235AC Gasket-CROSSUNDER Pipe. I may use the cement as well, seeing as how the gaskets cost almost $12. All the other stuff used in the video (brake cleaner, muffler cement, permatex ultra gray/black gasket sealant, dielectric grease, etc.) will be more than likely found at your local auto parts of course.

Well this all depends on who you take it to, but generally speaking this job is estimated to be 4-5 hours, with a professional mechanic. Multiply that by their hourly rate, which varies depending on your area. This could be anywhere from $500-$650, just in labor costs. Then tack on parts, which depending on how many of the gaskets/o-rings they actually replace and which parts they choose(as well as their markup on said parts). I got most of mine from Rock Auto (all except 2 o-rings and exhaust gasket) for about $55.00, but at a shop they could charge you anywhere from $70 on up I would assume, depending on markup. Then tack on the shop fees which i have no idea how they estimate for and you are probably talking about a $700 - $800 repair. Keep in mind that places like Fire Stone won't do this repair because of the removal of exhaust y-pipe. They told me to take it to an engine shop. Best thing to do is just call around local engine shops for estimates. Look for yelp reviews and such in attempt to find a decent one though. Nothing worse than getting burned by a dishonest mechanic.

@@StupidRalph You could definitely save money buying the part at an auto salvage yard and doing it yourself. The most complicated part of this repair is because of the exhaust pipe. With a little persistence, I am pretty sure that you would win the battle, though.

There is no German engineering at all in them besides how they wanted it to look and interior material differences. The engine in question had already been in use for years in the Pacifica SUV and as a 3.5 in cars.

HURRY!!!!! It is not okay to put a professional technician through that. It is careless, dangerous, abusive, and should be illegal. This is not fast food, and you are not cooking french fries. You are dealing with someones hot 3000 pound car that you need to put on a hoist, and deal with toxic, hazardous chemicals that require disposal. People who believe it is okay to treat a trained technician in such a manner are in service, or customers, and they are assholes. They need to pay a lot more money, pay a technician more to do it, wait as long as it takes, STFU, or do it themselves. This is one of the biggest reasons I left the industry, and make my own way.
