I've got more details about the scoot and why I chose it here, and I tend to do way more forum updates than videos : 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/18481/2011-yamaha-tmax-xp500a-scoot?page=1

Read your post, very informative, thanks,I too am feeling the impact of a 150cc scooter,, although the aprilia scarabeo is an awesome machine,still struggles at speeds of 55+. But it rides and handles incredibly,with it's 16" wheels and tall stance,,if I could afford to keep it and purchase a 400-500cc,,I would.If you aren't familiar with the scarabeo,I think you would find them interesting machines.

I know of them, but no experience with them. A friend had a Chinese 150 with 16" wheels (BMS Zen King) years ago. I rode that and even it was way nicer than my 10-12" wheeled scoots when taking bumps or for stability. I'm sure the real deal is good stuff.

And it looks better too! I know what I'm going to do to my Silverwing now, but I will have to cut the windscreen because it doesn't have the tinted fairing like yours.

the tmax 500 is solid choice. you may want to get rid of those mirrors while your at it and go for some aftermarket mirrors.
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 7 жыл бұрын
I'm enjoying the TMAX. The mirrors don't really bother me. I'm trying not to mod everything on this like I do to my 50s. So far 16g sliders, 12V outlets in both glove boxes, Yamaha rack and top case, Silverstar headlights, homemade GPS mount, and now I have a Double Bubble windscreen that I cut a couple of inches off of (nothing has been really good for me, but it at least helped MPG and MPH. It also had Michelin Power Pure SC tires on it when I got it, and I will probably go with those again when it's time.

Hey man just wondering if its possible to get a big bore kid bigger than 70cc for a 1e40qmb 50cc moped, i have a 70 kit in mine right now and i was wondering if there is a way to make it faster than it already it
@49ccscoot

I've built many 90-110ccs out of them. It's a lot more work than a BBK though. Cases have to be machined, stroker crank, larger carb is a good idea. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/10392/cutting-cases-accept-cranks-matching That, or buy a whole 90cc short or long case. Some youth ATVs have them, like the Polaris 90 in some years. The long case is harder to find, and mostly sort of an oddball that uses a short case gearbox with a stretched out CVT (long belt) like an Adly. Unless you have a racing 70cc though, it's likely that you can go much faster at 70cc. Look into higher performing kits and exhausts. There's no reason you can't see 70MPH on something still capable of being ridden regularly if you get the right parts. Just note that the more you move toward racing setups, the harder they get to tune, the more parts cost, and the harder they are on parts.

So with a 70cc kit and all the right things i should be able to hit 60mph or more? what parts would i need to make it reach higher speeds, i have bbk, unrestricted cdi, leo vince powerpipe, 3gram rollers, clutch springs, would getting a bigger carby make a difference? or any other parts? what do you recommend

It depends just how fast you wanna spend. It's not necessarily about more parts, but different parts. www.49ccscoot.com/faq/whichbbk.html

It's going to depend on rider height, but for me it's only blocking wind very low. Maybe chest height.

There is a guy in my area selling his 2009 Tmax 500 for $2500. It has 35K miles on it. Is it worth to purchase the scoot at that mileage? Also is it fun to ride?
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 4 жыл бұрын
As long as it's well maintained, I'd think it's worth it. At that mileage, it will be due for a full service, including checking the valves if the previous owner hasn't kept up on it. If you get a shop to work on them, repairs are expensive for these from what I understand. The panels take quite a bit of time to remove and install. I work on my own, but it's not the most fun thing to do. I like mine quite a bit. It's not a speed demon, but it handles well and is very capable of going wherever you want to go. It doesn't feel heavy like you'd expect from a nearly 500lb bike. I know at least the older Burgman 650s feel very heavy. This is not as plush as those though. The seat could use a bit more padding IMO, but that hasn't stopped me from taking many full day rides on it. You can search my vids for TMAX stuff and you'll find some performance tests and riding video.

I took mine off upon purchase of my 09. The aerodynamics of the bike was thrown was way off and had to put it back on.
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 4 жыл бұрын
For me, the worst was the stock setup. I was fairly happy with it deleted. Decided to get a "double bubble" shield. Didn't like that. Cut it down and it's a bit better. The TMAX feels odd to me aerodynamically anyway. Seems like it's affected by airflow more than it should be. I think there's something going on beyond what a simple shield swap is going to fix.

I ended up with a "double bubble" shield, but I cut it down a little to improve the wind for me. For summer, no shield or the double bubble is fine. I do like having more area covered in cold weather though.

@@49ccscoot Today, I spent 3 hours in the train to go get my lovely tmax. On the way back home, on the highway, I noticed how « useless » the windshield get’s as soon as I started driving faster than 60mph. The top half of my helmet is fully exposed and made the ride quite uncomfortable… i plan on finding a way of fixing that and I believe you can help me out with that. The bike is so so great. I mean my words. On my way home, I said to myself : « The 9 hours I spent in the train this week to make that deal real, were absolutely worth it. »
