This is amazing. This problem has existed for at least 3-4 yrs now. I thought I’d have to pay big bucks to get it fixed. I just went outside and did this trick with the pliers and voila it is fixed. I can’t tell you how happy this has made me. I’ve bought this battery charger because I was leaving lights on because I wasn’t getting a warning to shut them off. The ding ding was always telling me to put the key fob in, not telling me I left my lights on. Anyway, I can’t believe this was a 2 min fix. Thank you for this. Claire

Dude! Fixed mine in like 20 seconds! I got this car from someone and it's been chiming since I got it 3 days ago. Also the fob would not lock and unlock the doors in that condition. Now it works perfectly! Thank you for posting!

This is for the 2009-2014 4Th-Gen Acura TL Tech Package. I’ve never had issues with it but once. It was asking me to put the key-fob in the slot for some reason. This is after I changed the battery in the key-fob.

MAKE SURE YOUR ACCESS SYSTEM FROM INSIDE YOUR GLOVE BOX IS TURNED ON. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT MIGHT NOT BE RECOGNIZING YPUR KEYLESS REMOTE SYSTEM. CHECK THAT AND GET BK TO ME.

When u say the key, ur talking about the keyfob correct? Not the hard key that slides in the fob- were talking about the complete keyfob.?

That would be a much more involved... There's a strong possibility that you may need to take the entire key-slot assembly apart to successfully diagnose and pin-point the direct cause and reasoning behind the hang-up or its stuck position. Since the slot is designed to latch onto these small reverse cut-out tabs on the fob itself to keep it secure while it sits in that slot track. It would be extremely difficult to provide you with an exact set of steps to resolve your issue without physically seeing your vehicle. This is why I believe and strongly suggest that aftermarket key fobs should never be placed in these slots. ☆☆Only OEM key-fobs that your vehicle calls for should be used and enter any key-slot at any given time. My theory, after close examination have found that the cut-outs were not precisely located or match the OEM key-fobs. In addition, the cut-outs were not as clean, creating unproportioned, or deformed cut-outs and will potentially forsee alignment issues or key-fob being stuck in the slot, just like in your case in the near future. The last thing I will mention is the key-slots are not designed to be used as some-ones daily method as an ignition vehicle start-up chice. The vehicle already have a smart intelligent ignition interface where your keyfob just needs to be in close proximity to the push start button in order to successfully start the vehicle. These slots were designed for one primary reason. That reason is for a way to start your vehicle if the battery in your key-fob were to ever die. The key-slot would allow you to insert the physical key-fob into that slot rendering a successful start up, and do so with a completely dead key-fob battery or no key-fob battery at all. That's why the keyslot was designed it's an override power source for a keyfob with no battery or a dead battery to successfully start your vehicle while your key-fob is awaiting the proper battery replacement. I believe everyone should keep a spare battery in their vehicle to avoid using these slots at all if possible. One that prefers using these slots as their go-to for an ignition start-up first choice option is just asking for future problems. The key-slot and its mechanisms will start to show signs of wear and begin to fail at some-point in the near future. I hope this information helped! Best, -R-
