I just fixed putting my fingers in the side of the slot. I slide back some little piece of plastic that was stock, making the car think that the fob was inside. The message from the dash "remove remote key" went off and everything is back to normal. Not using that slot again.

Thank you. For great info now it time to remove mine. I been having the same problem I use my fingers to pull the side wall back where the key sits in. Now I know it won’t mess up the car. just unplugging it lol

Actually... you don't have to go through all the trouble of taking the dash apart. If you just use a pair of needle nose plyers you can do it right while the slot is where it is. Check out this diagram: ww2-secure.justanswer.com/uploads/AC/acuramstr/2012-09-11_201254_key.jpg

I used the pliers too.... still have to replace though as it gets stuck every time I plug it in!! I’m with everyone though that locking mechanism is useless.

That worked about three times before it wouldn’t come out anymore. I had to change the part.

Dude I don't understand why you slide the key fob into that thing I have a 2011 TL and I have that thing on the dashboard but I have never taken the key fob out of my pocket , So maybe you're better off never even taken your key fob out your pocket

I don't put it in there. But when I take it to get the oil changed they always do. Just had to remind them that it didn't have to go in

I have a 2009 TL aw-shd. Sometimes the key fob isn’t recognized. I’ve changed batteries. But still it happens

I got 2010tl my negative lead for my battery failed but I didn't at moment so my key fob got stuck inside the sleeve I yanked it out wasn't meaning to but now same I can push it back out but when push key in or take out it won't act like its normal self so now I gotta take the mfer out and do what you did hopefully I aint gotta buy the piece brand new tho but will try to fix it next warm day I get here in ny hopefully not a major pain to take out so u saying take off the molding only and its easy to take out

Actually you don't have to take the molding off. If you have a pick tool you can reach in and pull it back out. Not that hard and it will work normal again. 30 second job. Message me back if you need help doing it
