One piece of potential drama that these highlights didn't show was Fernando Alonso nearly running out of fuel. The timing of the second deployment of the Safety Car came at the worst time for him. He was due to pit when the Safety Car was deployed for the Massa and Coulthard accident and the Renault team could only advise Alonso to save fuel and hope it was enough to keep enough fuel to pit when the pit lane opened. The communication between the team and driver made it abundantly clear: "Fuel Mixture 3, Fuel Mixture 3, save fuel, save car. Save as much fuel as you can, save as much fuel as you can Fernando,"
