37:02 bet that was forgotten come Brazil but Glock's mistake delaying his teammate actually gifted Massa an extra point - so overall Glock was fair in his dealings with the main championship contenders 🙂

Never understood how people could be angry about Glock in brazil. He was one of the cars which gambled staying on slicks. He simply couldn't fight for position and there's nothing he could've done to race Hamilton. And I'll also never understand the count on "dealings" with championship contenders. Its called racing

Kubica's run here was kind of like Frentzen was in 1999 - always picking up everything from McLaren's and Ferrari's mishappenings. What a shame they couldn't keep it up for a big upset! (Then again he does stay in contention till quite late on). Indeed another similarity to 1999 is that I know it's different circumstances but the driver expected to be Ferrari's #2 actually ended up being their main title challenger!
@1greenMitsiАй бұрын

Great thumbnail of a historic Canadian Grand Prix! Among drivers who led the championship and never been a champion Kubica is one of the strongest ever. Even Mario Theissan the team boss at BMW said in his Beyond The Grid podcast, he wasn't happy about it. Even Kubica wasn't happy about it either, he was angry and very annoyed had the team told the BMW executives "We have a chance to win the World Championship this year, let's go for it." Great Performance from Robert Kubica! When he took the lead in the drivers title BMW should of taken that as a sign to keep up development of the car their strategy of putting all development into the 2009 car would have only worked if the regs had stayed the same instead of the major changes we got as their designer was not on Ross Brawn or Adrian Newey's level.
@HjtrneАй бұрын
That red light signal at the pit lane exit consists of two alternating red lights. I suspect that confused Lewis a bit. If he's looking at the one red light that's currently on - when it turns off, that's precisely what happens at the start of the race. But here he needs to look for which other colour light turns on afterwards.

After this race, BMW would make a costly mistake and stop car development despite leading the drivers title and being 3 points off the constructors. Sure, the new major rules were coming in next year, but no guarantees they would get it right, and as shown by 2009. Its like if Leicester city decided to stop playing up to 100% after they reached 40 points in 15/16, instead of going for it. Also i believe the tarmac issue is why we didn't go to canada for 2009 as they needed a year to fix the tarmac

@@fabiansakutu7778 I would argue running into someone in the pit lane isn't championship worthy. If you counter with outstanding drives, Massa also had outstanding drives. @@tombardsley3081 We had schumacher crashing into trulli in Malaysia and Sato in Japan 2003 like a headless chicken whilst already being a 5 time world champion. I wouldn't say accidents isn't worthy of him winning the title. But there is a massive skill issue with massa especially in the rain spinning 7 times in one race and spinning on the opening lap of the 2008 season because there was no traction control. He had a better car overall and bottled it regardless of his bad luck. Hamilton had harsh penalties that year and drove better in a slightly slower car. Winning by 60 seconds at silverstone was enough to validate the 2008 title.
@tombardsley3081Ай бұрын
@@fabiansakutu7778 rear ending another car on the straight twice is a skill issue. Rear ending a stationary car in the pit lane is a skill issue. The McLaren and Ferrari were well matched in 2008. And Hamilton wasn't given harsher penalties. They were either fair or given the minimum that was around for at the time. There were no 5 or 10 second time penalties back in 2008. Drive through was the standard penalty for most incidents. Drivers got that for speeding in the pit lane. Hamilton was bottling it as well. Does Fuji not come to mind as well as the finale where he was getting beaten by 2 inferior cars? This was by far Hamilton's weakest championship win and arguably a worse season than his rookie year.
