Places to visit... Well this was an excellent place. The diner at Hesperia when the 2 ladies owned it. Food was served family style. And was plentiful and delicious. That setup ceased to exist back in the late 80s. But there's always Norm's at Brackett, the Cafe at Flabob, Cafe at Corona, Cafe at Riverside, Maniac-Mikes at Cable, the cafe at French Valley or the Elephant Ba and Grill up on the 2nd level of the Santa Barbara airport terminal... Memories :)

I got my ppl in a Cessna 152 ( N6198P ) at Lowerlake high school ( Lake County, Northern California ) as a high school senior, class of 1985. About 3 months later after my HS graduation and after graduation from USMC boot camp..MCRD SAN DIEGO..platoon #1121..🇺🇸🇺🇸..I finally got my drivers license..after I just turned 18 and with my pay as a USMC bootcamp recruit and earning the title as a United States Marine…I bought a one owner pimp’n 1972 Ford Courier pickup truck and learned to drive it and managed to earn my drivers license in it……still have my Lil 72 Courier today as a daily drive. I keep it next to my planes hanger. Sooo, I earned my Pilots license in highschool but no drivers license considering my mom and I were way too poor to have a car. I washed …ALOT…of dishes to pay for my PPL …….at a cost of $368 wet..( no bullshit )…the high school owned Cessna 152 with fuel was $10 per hour…I put 36.8 hours on the planes Hobb’s meter to earn my license here at KUKI …Ukiah Municipal, March 14th, 1985. My high school private pilots instructor was also my drafting, auto shop, aviation class instructor who is still alive today..he’s 77 years old now..John Weigand…we still fly together today…I keep a close eye on him as he still lives close by in Clearlake, Northern California…Lake County…The high school kept the plane at the old Pierce field airport in Clearlake..only about 2 miles away from the Lowerlake high school and has since been closed. It look’s like a disturbing NTSB report indicate’s a pilot and passenger killed themselves and totally ruined the plane …N6198P..by flying it on a foggy coastal day and hitting the coastal Redwood Groves…???… The love of general aviation has been a lifelong gift and blessing to me and family up here in Ukiah ..( KUKI )…We are the proud owners of a 1976 Cessna 182Q with literally a new, zero time 3 blade controllable pitch Hartzell prop and hand rebuilt ..” Tim’s Aircraft Engines “…Long Beach, Calif..IO-540 Lycoming …rated up 300 HP with Gami injectors…an absolute 4 passenger missle that’s lands like a truck and typical… a lil nose heavy. @@FlyingwithRich Nah, today we are just pigeons paying everything way too much than their true value. When I see that a Cub today can costs more than Cessna 172… f*cking h*ll what is wrong with this crazy world. Look at the price of a simple J3, I see some of them at around 80k while back in the days you could purchase them at 10x less than today. That’s totally insane. But you’d be right to assume that statement not only applies to aviation but almost everything around us today, starting with cars for example. Business schools at their finest, keep going you’re going far…

Rich, I read in different places that 206 is difficult to land due to a heavy nose. What do you think?

I don’t think it is. I think it’s heavier on the pitch axis than most people who transition into it are used to so they equate that to difficult. It just takes a little time to get used to it.

Great video. Makes me cry. In 1986 I started out to get a Private pilot's license, because I wanted my own airplane. I took a guaranteed ground school (2 day course). Then found a flight school in a different town that would fly a plane and an instructor to my local airport.for my training. During my 2 time up my instructor flew me over to a farm that had it's own runway and a 182. The plane was beautiful. I didn't tell my instructior but soon as I recieved my pilots licesence I was going to buy that airplane. ($12,000.00) it looked as new and loaded. Thanks for the memory.

To me it’s not only joy to watch these reviews, also I can improve my learning curve. I am impressed, how Rich hands all these different types so calm and professional. I can only assume, it happens the same way in dealing these airplanes. That gives trust and professional deals. Perfectly. Keep on going. This C182 is nice. And I agree, it’s still some time to overhaul the engine. Then you renew the engine and you have a perfect airplane for decades, the rest is done and nice. Even if you add the money for a new engine, you almost have a new condition airplane to much less cost compared to a new one. Actually a smart deal in my opinion. ❤thanks for you efforts and invests to make these great videos. 🙋♂️😀👍🙏

If the value of an overhaul increases the value of the aircraft, then why not just go ahead and provide that service ahead of time and reap the rewards? I call BS on that statement. I love the 182T. It is a solid aircraft.
@FlyingwithRich6 ай бұрын
So, you call BS on the statement that, “the value of the overhaul increases the value of the aircraft”? I think you will find few who agree with you. Also, overhaul cost can range in value and one buyer may value a field overhaul or prefer an airplane with a run out engine. Others may prefer a factory reman verse a field overhaul. I see this all the time - same as paint, someone does a paint job with blue and the potential buyer assigns no value to new paint because he/she like red.
