Great tutorial. It started off a little rough. Tons of great info. I've replaced alternators before on other vehicles, but not in my For Expe. KZbin to find out if it was any different. Yours is the first video that comes up. Thank for sharing the info. I was still able to learn something new from your video. Should make changing the alternator that much easier.

Denso is great. BMW uses them for OE alternators too.

Okay but what if the problem is I charge the battery and it keeps it running but when I turn it off and leave it and the next time I come back to it and try and start it again the battery isn't charged anymore
@SevenSixTwo20125 жыл бұрын
That means you either have a bad battery or a short in the electrical system somewhere. Most likely a bad battery.
@tier3rd3753 жыл бұрын
It could also mean something could be draining the battery. Sometimes a switch gets stuck closed and continues to draw power from the battery. This video explains it well and even shows how to diagnose it kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGape3edmMmcn5o

Great tutorial, quick question, Did you have any charging issues? Or it just the noise made you change it? I have kinda same noise, and when i check alternator charging voltage its around 12.6V, which is not right i think but my battery doesnt die. Please advise
@jimpark46004 жыл бұрын
It was just the noise. Charging should be around 14.2 if the car is on.

@@jimpark4600 thank you for a quick response, i think my alternator is going out and its making that noise and since i am reading under 12.6V with truck runing thats probably the proof of it, i was debating if the noise is from pulleys or alternator. Will change the alternator hope it fix the noise and charging issue. Thank you

I was driving my 2008 Ford Expedition and the ABS light came on. Besides that, the battery indicator light turned red, and then all the lights of the dashboard and screen went off. Once I got home I turned the vehicle off, but when I was going to turn it back on..... DEAD :( What can it be? By the way excellent video.

Kathy Rivera Torres sounds like the alternator to me. The battery is for starting your car and then the alternator takes over and charges your battery backup while you are driving. If the alternator fails the battery has to run everything with no charge and will eventually lose charge and thing like you describe will happen. The battery got drained and now can not start your car back up. If you would have kept driving it would have just shut off and you would be on the side of the road needing a tow. Replace the alternator.

How do you move the breaker bar? Like what tool did you use?
@jimpark46004 жыл бұрын
You use the breaker bar only. On the end is a 1/2 inch connector for sockets. You just use the 1/2 inch connector and push it into the tensioner. It has a 1/2 inch connection that will accept the socket in the tensioner.
@jimpark46004 жыл бұрын
Tee Taylor move it which ever way takes tension off the belt. That will allow you to slip the belt off.
