2008 Ford F150 rattling noise underneath truck

I could freaking kiss you right now!🤣 I have been chasing a freaking rattle under my F150 for a couple years and you just pointed me right to the problem. I was convinced that my engine had the best life expectancy with a rod knock possible. My rattle was constant and rose with rpm's yet sounded just like yours. Sure enough the rear 02 sensor was loose and now my problem is gone. Thank you so much! Wish I could like the video more then once.

LOL. You may have solved the mystery of my 2014 Expy. No one could figure it out and this makes perfect sense. It's that or maybe heat shields near the cat. Either way, I never would have thought to check to O2 sensor.

@@VI____ yeah i believe it was the same thing as the guy in this video but mine wasn't located where his was, it was located in the engine compartment so it was an easy fix . you just have to track down where the rattle is coming from which is the hard part , or you can try to find where the O2 sensor is on your vehicle model by searching up some vids .but yeah def was the O2 sensor

Before you tighten it down, pull it, and put some Never Seiz on the threads, wipe the threads so there’s just a tiny bit left, and make sure there’s none on the sensor tip. My 2017 had a dull vibration sound coming from the front end, when I had a 45 degree cross wind at the right front corner of the truck. The Rubber Shield, under the Radiator had two tears in it, and was vibrating and rubbing against the Transmission and Power Steering lines. I repaired it using a cut to fit rubber sheet, and patched it using Slime Tire/Tube Cement. Make sure you cover your head and wear old clothing, as it will drip.

Same thing going on in my truck but I also have the check engine light on and it’s for the 02 sensor, will making it tight again make they check engine light go away or is it possible that I gotta swap out the 02 sensor.. I already got the 02 sensor but haven’t swapped it yet till tomorrow . Let me know thanks for this !

I have 2007 Ford Expedition making that noise I thought maybe need to clamp heat shield down but my struts need to be replaced and leaking could the noise be that too? Got to love ford engineering! Its like when they put it together, its good enough until warranty is over!

Lol on Ford Engineering. And usually struts make noise when driving, going over bumps, etc. But I doubt it makes noise while idling.

Weird that I’m also just now having this rattling noise after doing a transmission service. Never happened before the service but on the ride home it started. Wonder why. I’m going to check the sensor and other things underneath. The truck’s still shifting fine, just making an incredibly loud rattling in drive, park, etc.

Got an 03 f150 and the rattle sounds the same and looks to come from the same place. Mine only does it around 1700 RPM but is getting worse over time. Sounds the same to you?

sometimes is not the o2 and its the heat shield around the o2. couple holes and some stainless steel locking wire and its good!

Mine started doing that yesterday. Sounds like the fan is hitting something or something is rattling around in the muffler. Only happens at idle. When I accelerate the engine it goes away. I’ll check that in a bit.

@@ACTIONONETIME Mine turned out to be one of the catalytic converters has came apart inside because I ran it for a week on a dead cylinder. Wound up removing both sides & gutting them. Better power & better mileage now, but I only did it bc it was the cheap option & I found a way to trick the computer into not noticing it.

Well it helped me locate my problem it was actually the heat shield that is attached to the top of the catalytic converter the spot welds came undone
