Forgive my stellar cam quality and angels haha. I have a 2008 Honda Pilot. This is the 3rd to 4th gear automatic transmission pressure switch. These switches should be changed every 50k miles. I score them both off Amazon for around $100. Honda apparently has their own account there. Hope this helps seeing as how there is a shortage of 06-08 videos on some fixes.

Super, thanks. I have the new 4th switch in stock but could not locate it. You video really helped. Also very cool to see a woman doing mechanics; keep up the good work.

Good video. Just got the flashy light and p0872 code. Guess I'm about to swap out a pressure switch. Thanks for posting this. Now that I know what I'm in for, I'll grab my flip-flops and get to work.

I know this video came out like a while ago, buuuuuut a the p0873 code popped up with the flashing D on the column here recently on my car. I can feel her kinda jerking I guess is the word? Anyways, you’d think I wouldn’t come here for this question since my hubs is a mechanic, but I was just going to ask, did you ultimately replace the shift solenoids? The aforementioned husband is convinced that it’s the solenoids causing the switch to be hanky, and I am just not wanting to spend more than necessary since, ya know, everyone is broke including me, but he’s convinced it NEEDS to be changed or it will make the switch go bad and I just was wondering if you had any probs like that 🙃

So I didnt catch this as soon as I should have. Ultimately a few months later I roasted my TC seal and she stuck me in neutral at my off ramp close to home. I replaced the unit and kept the new pressure switches to swap into the used one. Shes still going strong with 261k tho how many on your pilot?

@@Redridininyohood I changed the fluid and now I’m going to change it again when all the solenoids come in. Crazy and weird as it is, when I drive the car in D4 it’s rides perfect. No trans slipping, no high rpm’s. Only in D5 is where I get the issues.

@@Redridininyohood From your mouth to God's ears. I bought a new EF in 1991 that got stolen in 1997. Got another EF in 1999 that I had to sell in 2005, because we had kids. I went through SO MUCH REGRET over losing that car. Then in 2016, I bought the one I have now, in pretty mint condition, but it was an automatic. So, in 2017, my buddy and I got another EF with a trashed body, but a new engine/trans from an EG (Si model, with the VTEC motor) and swapped the trans into my current EF. The motor is still on a stand in my front yard, lol. I've also had a 1988 Accord, and my best friend is an EF guy, too. Oh, and I also have a cooking channel, btw. lol

Great video. Would anyone know what an error code is 76-3. Clutch pressure control solenoid valve A stuck off, would mean and how to replace or repair the issue ? No power when accelerating seems to be stuck in a higher gear.

Is this on Hondata? My transmission actually ended up going out. Was going down the highway and poof lost traction at 65mph. I think the A-B solenoid is the dual linear solenoid. What year is yours?

@@Redridininyohood the info is from a foxwell scanner with the Honda license. It’s a 2008 Honda Pilot. I can’t tel if I need to simply replace the solenoid or what a lot of people state the third gear pressure switch.

@@zookinthe6ix461 the A-B solenoid is the dual linear solenoid directly under the battery tray on that side of the tranny. There are a few videos on it i think.

I had the same issue you're talking about. Replace the A/B Solenoid (linear solenoid Becky didn't want to remove). 6 bolts. You can also test it yourself: 12v to both contacts should activate the solenoid. Replacing that solenoid will solve your problem. Got mine for $5 at junk yard.

If 06 to 08 its a pressure switch and should be on the transmission just next to the starter. The replacement switch will be black.

Also have you changed your transmission fluid or done a drain and fill? You can use valvoline maxlife synthetic. Ive been running it in mine with no issue. 3 gallons will do it and costs around $60 or so from walmart👍 there is also another dual linear solenoid on the side of the transmission but you have to remove the battery and tray to get to it. Some part places sell a memory tool you plug into the DLC it keeps power to the computer so you dont lose settings and have to deal with radio codes etc. Autozone had one called a memory minder.

@@MBZXZ on these its ok i think. Mine looked like used motor oil. And there was more junk on the drainplug than i was comfortable with. So i did a drain and fill every 1k miles. @@Redridininyohood i just read the code on my pilot, it’s p0746 cvt drive pulley pressure control solenoid valve stuck off , so there’s 2 place of the solenoid, one on the top and one block by the transmission wiring on the side. i couldn’t find any information about which solenoid controls which gear , i think i probably have to replace one at the time hope i got right at the first shot , because the solenoid is very expensive

Had I found out these switches were faulty I would most definitely have changed them earlier. In my case they did help but there had been slipping and it never triggered a code oddly. They should be done every 50k miles. I replaced both switches. Did 3 drain and fills over the course of 1 oil change. Used Valvoline full synthetic trans fluid. It gave me almost a good year. It was then i got the PO741. I got 1 trip after the code popped and roasted the torque converter seal. (2nd owner did a lot of towing I am the 3rd) The single linear solenoid next to the 3rd clutch switch on 06-08-ha the one I didnt want to remove. But thise swiyches can cause all kinds up shift and down hunting, bucking, feels like its gonna fall outta the Pilot. Always when it warms up. If you wver replace or rebuild use the Honda OEM torque converter seal and rear main. The aftermarkets are trash. They shrink and back out.
