I have a '07' it's a fantastic car to own/drive. No maintenance problems, very reliable and gets a lot of positive comments. And yes, that's a 3.0 liter 6 cyc, but still has a lot of grunt!

that's not the v8...... I own a 2007 s type and this one has the 3.0 not the 4.2.... the 4.0 as he said it has was discontinued in 2004 and replaced with the 4.2. you can also tell be the sound. the v8 has a much better growl.

Right on Mathew he cant fool someone who obviously knows Moore about the vehicle he is plugging I would be pissed if I drove to see car and it was a v6 not v8 that is probably the worst car experience not as advertised

There is no 4.0 liter V8 in 2008 in this Jaguar. From 1998 - 2002 it has a 4.0 V8 with 276 horse power. From 2002 the S-type has a 4.2 liter V8 with 298 horse power and a V8 4.2 supercharged with 398 horse power. I have the S-type V6 3.0, from November 2006 and it has exactly 238 horse power. The car in this Video has the same 3.0 V6 motor. The S-Type is one of the most underrated cars, but the seller in this video teils mutch nonsens and has no idee from the car.

we went for a Jag XJ6 today, our Garage is unfortunately a bit small :(, so had to drop the idea for the time being. And then i lokoed up this car. Would you suggest this over an XJ? How is she doing till now in your hands? Regards

The S type is just as comfortable as the XJ, the thing you will notice though is the fuel economy. I used to get around 20 to 25 out of my 3.2 X300, but on a run, staying at about 65 to 70, I get over 45 mpg. It also fits in my standard size garage.

Thanks for your quick response. I just can't get this XJ6 out of my head :( and tht's why looking for alternatives. Just loved every bit of this car, the way it handels, the comfort, the sound system. The engine seems actually to be the same as in S Type. Regards

It depends which set up you are going for. My X300 had the petrol 3.2 straight 6, where as the S type is 2,7 turbo V6 deisel. Like for like they compare , but I think it would be easier to find a good S type than a good XJ, as they were more popular so more were made. It is entirely up to you., but as far as physical size is concerned, the S type is slightly smaller.
