Title is wrong, says crank but you had no crank. Get to the point, we don't care what you ordered for lunch. 15 minutes to tell us your rebuilt starter was faulty.

I parked at the supermarket and when I returned, the car would not start the engine. After several unsuccessful attempts, I opened the hood and DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLE. I reconnected the cable and when I turned the key the car started as if nothing had happened.

I gotta check engine light coming on, when trying to start the vehicle it does crank but will not start. Can smell the odor of fuel. Maybe it's the gas pump? Diagnostic tool at Advanced Auto said the likely culprit was the crankshaft position sensor. I bought a new one and had some dude change it. Didn't work.
