Thank you! I was laying under the car for about ten minutes looking everywhere for that fill plug. Then I decided to come and check out KZbin. I never would have looked under that air cleaner box!

Though this way will work that’s not actually the fill plug. The fill plug is on the front of the trans. It’s a 17mm head and has an aluminum crush washer. You fill the trans until oil starts coming back out.

Fyi, this is exactly the same layout for the 2007-2010 hyundai accents. Same engine and transmission. Engine bay looks almost identical. I used this video to help me change the m/t oil on my accent. Thanks man!

Thank you for this video, you saved me. I couldn't believe that after I changed the cv shaft that I couldn't find where to fill it back up. Long story short I got so frustrated that I couldn't find anything on the internet that I broke down and paid 5 dollars to ask a online mechanic and he told me over and over I was wrong, and he even sent me a diagram. Only problem is the diagram shows the drain plug. He swore up and down that is where I was supposed to fill it, after telling him several times that was the drain plug he just quit responding. Worst $5 I've ever spent (probably). Once I found your video it was a breeze. Thank you again.

Dude that's not the fill plug. That sets the preload on the shift mechanism. Anyone reading this: DON'T MESS WITH THAT BOLT. The fill looks just like the drain plug on these and is right near the shift fork, about halfway up on the front side of the transmission. The best thing to do is do it opposite order... pull the fill plug first, dip your pinky in there to get a "feel" for the level and to reassure that you in fact pulled the fill plug. Pull the drain, reinstall, fill until it just starts to run out. Done

Car ran strong for years while I owed and still running strong for my niece. Changed the oil a couple times now with same procedure and no issues. Even though it may be the preload it didn't hurt to remove and replace. Maybe you can provide the bolt torque spec for preload? Maybe you can make a video of the right procedure and plug location? There wasn't a video when I made mine to help so us youtubers would probably appreciate your video. Thanks for the comment and have a blessed day.

Thanks for the video, not a lot of info out there on these cars. I have a 2007 accent. All that looks almost exact, but I don't remember taking the air box out when doing mine. I just used a long plastic tube to reach down there. Hopefully I used the right fill hole. Been working fine for a few years now.

My 2008 Kia Rio LX manual states: [ API service GL-4, or SAE 75-85 (fill-for-life), 2.0 quarts (1.9 liters) ] for the manual transmission.

Thank you for the video. I have been learning with my Rio5 SX and I hate cars, but I've learned so much about cars with this car. I have just under 87K on this 2008 and I'm betting the previous owner never changed the fluid. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend?

I check mine every 30K miles, but it doesn't hurt to let it go a little longer depending on how hard you drive it.

@throwedoffboss5 жыл бұрын
dhia thamer automatic will be different. It will have a pan you need to drop with a filter. I suggest adding a drain plug to the pan when you take it off for future ease of oil changes. You can get a pan plug kit at your local auto parts store for cheap.

You dont no what your doing you fill from the side of the box. That plug is a detent not the oil filler
@throwedoffboss7 жыл бұрын
Just showing what worked for me. Do it your way and make a video so everyone can learn or just say the plug is a detent not the oil filler and describe exactly how to fill it the way you think is correct, instead of writing negative comments. Have a blessed day.
@emmaziegler66477 жыл бұрын
throwedoffboss kia says the oil is fill for life which is stupid but to remove the air cleaner and other things when two inches to the right of the clutch fork there is a fill bolt. On most cars you would fill till it runs out but not on the kia, measured amount is best or you have to Remove the speedo drive because that is the oil level. Having a go is good but it was not the right way
