Even though they didn’t clinch the Cup that night, 8:30 never fails to give me chills. The smooth pass/shot, doc’s call, the crowd erupting, and that awesome goal horn. Just so perfect, and I’m not even a Wings fan lol.

Straight out of Dearborn, MI, Brian Rafalski, the American-born Defenseman won a Stanley Cup with the NJ Devils in '03. He was critical to the Wings' depth at the D position and overall success. On a side note Max Talbot's game tying goal in this game should've served as a sign of things to come for the rematch a year later as he had a phenomenal series against Detroit in the 2009 Stanley Cup Final. He turned out to be a crafty Forward who had a knack for creating plays out of nothing and scoring the "ugly" and "dirty" goals as Pierre McGuire alludes to.

I was never an Osgood fan, can you imagine if they had a Roy or Flury during this era, they would have won the next year easy. I just thought Osgood was an average goalie.
