Today's the DAY! I'm installing the engine and transmission in this 2008 Trailblazer SS! I'll walk you through the process of of changing the 4L70E Transmission to a rear wheel drive (2wd), installing the combo in the truck, tuning, and the first start of this LS2 v8 engine that was freshly rebuilt!

@@RevHardGarage Atlanta it was a Lt i bought a 6.o out of a wrecked SS harness and computer already ready just need to go back together 6.0 already inside. I would do it myself but i have never done that type of work on a trailblazer ss

Noticed you also used a harbor freight cherry picker to get it all stabbed back in. I'm installing the engine/trans/harness as a package but the hoist hits the frame before the motor mounts can line up, any tips? Also I'm just using a chain on the ends of each head and hooked them together for my tether

It's a little tight, even with the front bumper pulled. Just have to push the engine back a little while letting it down. Did you remove the steel bumper?

If you don’t delete the dod or afm out of ecu, would that create a no oil pressure scenario?

No that should not effect oil pressure. If you don't change the tune it will only run on 4 cylinders. If you lost oil pressure it could be an issue with the valley cover? What is your setup?

@@RevHardGarage 07 tbss, 6.0 aluminum block, 243 heads, lsx stage 2 cam, dod afm delete valley cover, Gm ls7 lifters, stock everything else. Engine block has barbell and front galley plug, pickup tube has new red o-ring. Checked pressure with mechanical gauge at oil sending unit…30+….however could not get oil to rockers. Haven’t checked cam bearings to see if one “walked”. Not sure why I can get oil.

I cant agree more about the headers. I had to unbolt the engine and the body from the frame and jack them all up and still had trouble.

Good job, The wireing is a little intimidating. Like when my Bro. Put in a shift kit on his 69' SuperBee. Springs and ball bearing on the kitchen table. lol . It shifted very hard. Like BAM!!! . Wrenching vicariously. Thanks

How’s the stretch belt holding up long term? I need to replace my tensioner so I might go with the stretch belt if there isn’t any reliability issues.

The stretch belt is excellent, I've installed it on several tbss since this video. Use this part number instead of the one in the video. K040346SF

Hey bud thanks for watching! The correct way to do it will require the following list of parts and you will need to disassemble the transmission. Rwd output shaft Rwd tail shaft housing w/speed sensor Rwd transmission mount spacer Rwd aluminum drive shaft from any swb v8 gmt 360. (Buck rainier, envoy Denali, tbss, etc.) Remove all front wheel drive components, do not need axle stubs. Alternative method: Get a transfer case from a 4x4 (selectable 4x4, not awd) from any trailblazer. Lock into rwd and install in place of stock unit. Remove all fwd components, or just remove from drive shaft. Etc.
