I never really cared for the Toyota Prius. But if I have to choose one to buy it would either be a 2004-2009 Prius or a 2010-2015 Prius because I like those generations the best. I currently have a 2015 Toyota Camry and I love it.

Grom Audio has a unit that piggybacks on the existing hardware giving both Apple CarPlay or Android Auto using the Prius OEM Display. This unit allows KZbin and Netflix on Prius OEM display. This unit has 2 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output. Typically, the HDMI output allows for an external monitor while HDMI input allows adding Chromcast, Roku stick or mouse to the unit. These is separate available harness for rear camera and front camera. The unit has 2 USB ports and port for a microSD Card. Installation takes a couple hours. There is no splicing of wires. The kit comes with custom cables that interface with the pre-existing Prius cables. This allows for a factory look with all the functionality of the Prius buttons in place. I found this unit from Prius Chat forum. The gal in the Prius chat forum took several hours to install. This is an easy DIY project, a no-brainer.

I've had a 2nd generation prius about a year now, had a battery issue early on but all now ok, I get 59MPG without trying very hard, in fact Ive turned the dispaly off and its improved when I did this... go figure lol, very smooth comfortable drive, not good in deep snow, but apart from that, all ok

good question. Well if you drive a prius at 100mph it will waste more fuel than an M5 just cruising behind at the same speed. So they technically don't save fuel. just depends on how you drive. You can squeze a 1990's cadillac to get 25+ MPG or if you drove a prius like you stole it you could get it down to 20 MPG.
