8:20 if you notice you have two parts the same ....both parts go in the subframe which is why the urathane insert was that size you didn't need to cut it

does the chain cover have anything to do with engine mount? ive done an engine swap and im having diffilcuties fitting the mount. Golf MK6 GT

I think the Mk6 have a timing chain which is totally different. This car has a belt.

The insert goes in the 2 mount. Just 💡

Curious how that red insert did. We're working on one right now where the bush is in bad shape and trying to find an alternative to dropping the cross member. Found this in the middle of a control arm/tie rod replacement project and this has slowed us down trying to figure how to repair. That red insert would certainly simplify things but if the main black part is damaged maybe it isn't the right way. So how did it go?
@bryansprojects3570 Жыл бұрын
I obviously had the wrong one in the video. I feel like it would have worked OK if I had the correct profile. I plan on dropping the crossmember this summer and putting the new ones in and getting an alignment. The car has almost 200k miles now.

I was told on the dogbone gearbox mount bush that the bolts also needed to be changed as they are stretch bolts?
@bryansprojects3570 Жыл бұрын
I would not be surprised at that, a lot of bolts now are torque to yield bolts. I would not be too concerned about that in this situation.

Hello, I liked your video posted on the assembly of the VW engine mounts. GOLF 5 gti, towards the end of the video we can see the wear on the front tires very pronounced, in your opinion why are the front tires so worn inside ?, I have the same phenomenon on my Golf 5 gt 2008, thank you for your answer, cordially.
@bryansprojects35702 жыл бұрын
I have only had that problem with one set of tires. I suspect because that set was a relatively inexpensive set of tires. It is possible that your front end alignments could need to be checked.

How did you found out what mount goes where when ordering
@bryansprojects35703 жыл бұрын
I just ordered a kit and matched them up after I got it. The one in the the lower crossmember take two of the same disc shaped ones and the crossmember needs to come out do do it right unless you have some special tool to extract and re-install. The car will need to be aligned if you remove the crossmember.

Doesn't seem to be too much of a time consuming job switching out those mounts 🤔
@seankennedy19004 жыл бұрын
The insert is the length of two bushes because theres two bushes in the subframe, now your insert only sits in one
@bryansprojects35704 жыл бұрын
I don't think the insert was the correct one anyway. It did not fit in the grooves correctly. I will pull the subframe and do it correctly one of these days.

It took care of about 75% of it. I need to replace the mounts in the subframe but that will require more time and a trip to the alignment shop.
