I've got one of these absolute beasts as my first car and it's absolutely brilliant. Even with a 1.2 6v with only 55 brake its still really quite nippy coming out of a corner and really does bring a smile to my face every time I hear the little 3 pot scream

My girlfriend purchased one of these to learn in and use as a first car, and myself coming from a bmw m135i must say its a hoot to drive! Same engine as this one in the video and for a 3cylinder its good. Not gonna be breaking any landspeed records but it does its job well. Would highly recommend to anyone for a first car, sure beats the 1.2L 06plate corsa I used for my first car no doubt about it. Cracking video as always 👍

My sister has a 1.2 2008 polo so it's safe to say I'm not in a rush to test drive it. I've actually owned a 1.4 tdi 2005 years ago to use for pizza deliveries. It was soo slow I actually contacted a tuning company to book it in for a remap before I got home. Took it to narco tuning in Coventry power went up from 75bhp to 100bhp

I've had one of this generation Polo for the last 3 years, learnt to drive in it, passed my test in it and have just been scooting about in it since. It's a pre facelift, the one with the bug eyes, and also a 1.2 12v, and I have to say my expectations were well and truly exceeded. Speed of course isn't a strong suit, but I quite enjoy the little thrum it makes, and while it isn't particularly communicative it did give me plenty of confidence when pressing on, given the relatively low speed it's capable of. On the motorway I regularly get over 50mpg running at 70, ~3600rpm, and she usually returns an average of 40mpg on my drive to uni (14 miles, about 50-50 split of urban and motorway driving). I seem to have had a good one as well, nothing has broken that wasn't my fault and all the wear items have been dirt cheap to replace - even the ever so common coil packs haven't failed on me. 10/10 experience for the money (£1750, 75k miles in 2020, now just about at 90k), 100% would recommend.

Could you tell me how far i would get with a full tank doing like 120kmh on the autobahn
@nivens.1604 Жыл бұрын
In my experience it's a happier journey if you can get it to sit closer to 110kmh, but even so, it should do about 800km at that speed before the refuel light comes on

In fifth, 60mph is 3000rpm so they do rev high even at light throttle at this steady speed. When driven like that, I get just under 500 miles between fill-ups in my BME-engined 2007 1.2 12-valve Polo.
@owensteele1645 Жыл бұрын
I own a BME-engined '57-plate Polo 1.2-12V S, 5dr, in metallic Diamond Black, with full history and 109000 miles, very clean and well-looked-after. It must be the last one ever which still uses the previous 64bhp version of this engine (started life as a showroom car registered late). I haven't experienced any timing chain issues, but despite its reputation, I love it. It's quite a nippy, torquey little car. The growl it makes under acceleration is addictive. However, on the motorway, while it keeps its fuel and gets on with the job, it needs 6th, as 60mph in 5th is already at 3000rpm, but it's still really quiet.
@owensteele1645 Жыл бұрын
All the Polos are heavy on front suspension bushes, (the rear of them go sooner), and track rod ends and anti-roll-bar ball joints, so a change of these along with control arms would make the Polo feel much newer and tidy up the handling, although, by design, would still never be quite as taut as, say, a modern Fiesta. It would be a good idea to perform a four wheel alignment check to make it at least as good as it can be.
@owensteele1645 Жыл бұрын
That was the front cup holder that you were pointing at @13:19. The rubberised-coated plastic cover will have fallen off at some point, on this car. Normally, you push in from the bottom, and an adjustable cup holder would VIOLENTLY pop out from there - not damped like on the Golfs.

I bought a 1.2 Polo and it is absolutely amazing. It is cheap in maintenance and fueling, it can be calm and simple if you need it to be so, but it also can be absolutely insane and crazy on a highway and scream like a banshee. BTW, I even managed to transport a regular-sized treadmill in this car and there still was a seat for a single passenger who helped me to hold it I love that car really

mine loves a little bashing around on some backroads. handles them well. to be fair it’s taken a beating and a lot of high revs.. touch wood it still is fine. it’s had alot of modifications done and taken off. only bad thing is cause of the mods it’s slower i’ve managed to get 97mph (on a track) other then that though it’s mint

I had a 2008 1.4 tdi se for 12 years it was very cheap to run and very reliable it was very reliable I traded it in with 120.000 miles on the clock for my present car a 2015 Astra j 1.6 diesel which surprise me when itwas doing more mpg but a lot smoother having the extra cylinder but it’s not screwed to getter like a vw

I just purchased one of this 2007 yob for my son, as his first car. Is pretty battered but for 2000E you cannot expect too much. The car preseted here is in a good estetic shape. Mine/ours is not that good. At least on ours the brakes are good, the engine is quiet, the gearbox is smooth and decent tires. For the rest...the scratches we will ignore. After the 1year beginner period there are 2 proper cars in the yard so my son can drive any one of them. I will only change the oil and filters and fix the remote locking. For the rest...only fuel and not much speed.😊😊😊

It's one of the cheaper cars to insure but by no means the cheapest. The Seat Ibiza or Skoda Fabia are built on the same platform but can be cheaper to insure.

Just come across your channel with this video. I felt you were mocking older cars ,looking at your other videos with lots of expensive BMWS MERCEDES RANGE ROVERS I say you drive around in expensive cars,but do remember that people can't afford those luxury cars. 2008 reg cars aren't old their just not as modern as a 2024 car is less to go wrong.
