Great instructions, thanks. I have a 2010 so this was perfect. It took about 5 min. The hardest part was I had to go to harbor freight to get the torx t30 screw driver head. The bulb is # 3157 which most auto parts stores should have. Thanks again!

I also have a 2009 Volkswagen routan and my third tail light is out and there's no videos that tells you how to replace it I have the part I just need to replace it I already know it's not the fuse I checked any help would greatly be appreciated

Joy Reyes Hi, unfortunately I do not have a video for that and I haven’t done one on this particular van just yet as I believe they are LED lights and those don’t often fail. However the Chrysler town and country is essentially the same van as this Routan and if you open the hatch it should be pretty similar. 1. You can try this to see if it looks the same. Open the hatch and there should be two 10mm nuts towards the top of the hatch (on the hatch door, not on the body) on the left and right side. Remove those. 2. Next there should be an upper portion of trim on the hatch that is separate from the bottom cover. It should just pop out using a flat head screwdriver to pop it out. You won’t be able to remove it completely as the hatch shock will be in the way but you should be able to maneuver it around the shock. 3. Next if you look in between the hatch and the body of the car up top there will be a windshield washer plastic tube for the water. Remove that. 4. There are a collection of holes you can see now (I think 4-5 total) two of them (left and right) should have two more 10mm nuts to remove and two of them have plastic nylock type connectors that can be pinched with needle nose to remove them. 5. Close the hatch and the rear spoiler that holds the light should now be able to lift up and back towards you to gain access to the light bulb. I believe it is held in by two screws but I can’t recall. I hope this helps.

i need help with a 2013 vw routan with a 3.6 it jerks jumps and shut off it starts right back up codes p0101 come up fixed it but it still does the same thing so can some one help me

Have you replaced the adjacent lights in the tailgate?

I have not. I’d imagine you would need to remove whatever plastic piece is covering it all inside the car and that would get you access. Alternatively there could be access flaps or panels that might get you access.

Julia Orta Buszkiewicz No I am sorry I have not. This is a customer's car. They requested that light bulb be changed out. I can try and get ahold of them to get the van back for a video on how to replace the bulb. In the mean time, being that this bulb is a LED bulb they rarely go out and are supposed to have a fairly long service life. I would first check the fuses (normally labeled *brake light* or *tail light* or *stop light* where the word light could be subbed with lamp) and if they check out good then proceed to replacing the bulb.
