I got the METRA 70-6522 and I don’t have an orange wire on it for illumination and a couple others and on the unit head I do have those wires

That gap is there because the radio is bigger than the opening. If you uninstall the radio, disconnect everything, remove the trim, and just hold the radio in your hand, you will not be able to slide it through the dash opening, because the radio is bigger than the hole it fits in.

I literally went through the same thing with the big gap at the bottom front of the double din- I went with dual radio though. My issue is not having the radio turn on and off with the key I have to hit the button on the face plate. I installed the green module for the steering controls which works but power not working with key.

I don’t know if you may have the answer but I have a ram with the same stereo it comes with ,and out of nowhere it stopped working properly Fm Xm aux, it only plays 3 seconds of a song and pauses for 3 seconds and it does that repeatedly. I was wondering why it’s doing that and if maybe buying a new stereo like the video would maybe help?

If it is the factory head unit I would definitely replace it with the parts we used in this video. You can get all those parts with links in the description of the video that will work with this vehicle

Have the same truck in video but can’t find my rationed accessory… is there another option for this or can you give direction on where exactly it is at. Only step I need to complete my install. Thanks for all your help and great video.

Mine turns on but I don't have sound. As I hear it's because of the alpine sound system. What can I do please help.

I would check on metra electronics website to see exactly which harness you will take. This particular vehicle did not have Alpine in it. I would imagine you would need a different harness that would power up The amplifier to make it work

What is the bright red wire for ? I’ve connected all the other wires to my wire harness My stereo im trying to install is a single din though But I just don’t know what the red ignition wire is for ? Help

Used a PAC RP4-CH11 steering wheel control adapter in my daughter's 2014 Avenger to retain steering wheel controls. It had the same stock radio as in the video and I installed a Kenwood DMX4707s. Its expensive, but it works.

Separate kit for radio controls if you want to maintain the functionality. It's not cheap.. I just bought one today. $150 plus tax.

Looking at the screenshot I thought that someone was going to finally show how they did it... Nope. I'm going to end up cutting the dash bezel to fit the actual height of the stereo... There is no other way unless you add the entire center console with that centre dash trim kit. Mass amounts of work just to put in a double din. Better off installing a single din with an oversized screen off the front of it.

You have to cut the bezel that holds the radio behind the trim. It's not difficult.

I’m trying to wire mine but not well versed in this lingo. What’s the “retained accessory” for power you’re using. What do I lookup to find it? I just have a normal wiring harness not that special clip thingy

Switched ignition which means you're going to need a power source that turns on when the key turns on

@@ajbeck2121 if you buy the expensive harness yes you can get it to where it will do retained accessory. If you buy the cheaper harness you will have to wire it yourself
