I am going through this same thing now. Started with a speed sensor going bad. I had to drill the old sensor out, taking care not to nick the hub, but I was unable to get all the plastic bits out of the hole. I decided to just send it with the new sensor and it worked great for 10 miles or so until the plastic bits took out the magnetic ring in the hub. In addition to your same problems getting the hub out of the knuckle, my ball joint nut was seized and I was forced to cut through the ball joint to get the knuckle off. Good thing Honda made the ball joint sealed as part of the lower control arm, because now I get to replace all of that as well. Should have just ignored the ABS light!

My kid sister is dealing with this sort of crap now. Her late husband's aunt drove around her honda pilot with loose lug nuts, and sheered the hub bolts right off eventually. Cause heaven forbid, the lady take care of her own vehicle, and make sure the "wobbling feeling and grinding noise" she'd been hearing since her last break job ain't something bad... My sister and our brother have spent the last 2 days wailing on the jeezless old wheel hub, stuck on, as it is, with 10 years of Northeast Ohio Rust, salt corrosion and road schmoo. Broke the bearing puller, bent two pry bars, ran the torch out of fuel, air hammer did nothing, used up the PB blaster, (only for the thankless witch to come out and ask why it was taking them so long)... I'm glad she wasn't was holding our sledgehammer "Mjolnir" at that moment. Off to find a hydraulic press, I guess.

Did a simple "replace pads and rear rotors" (because the rears were flaking away with rust, not the fronts...first warning sign). Little did I know that the person who previously did the brakes used loctite on most of the bolts, and (apparently from the red residue) the rubber that is on the outsides of at least one caliper slide of each brake. It was all I could do with PB Blaster and an old S&K 3/4" breaker bar to get one side loosened up. The other side required some very courageous Chinese wrenches resting on top of an old hydraulic bottle jack, to break those bolts (and fortunately not just the heads) out of a well warmed threaded socket. SOME possibility that this was just rust, but the one rubber grommet I was able to fish out of a brake caliper bracket looked very non-rust red (aka Red Loctite...nope, have not done chemical analysis, and yes at 144K miles, I would believe this is NOT a factory set of brake pads). Still some metallic sounds and slightly sub par MPG after my brake repairs, so yeah, looking at this wheel hub video for this guy firmly in the rust belt.
