It only seems next level because you're opening up the engine. Replacing the valve cover gasket on this motor is very easy. You might have to bump or pry on it a little bit to get it to break loose like I did on mine but it's really not that hard to do.

I think the newer models use a different part number but the replacement process should be very similar.

This is way different on my 09 dodge avenger. Maybe cause it's a 3.5L engine but I'd like to know what the torque specs on my valve cover gaskets are? Because mine are leaking.

Not sure if you would know or respond, but would you know the most common causes of oil leaks in the avenger? I have a leak and can’t locate the source, but all the oil spilled on the muffler pipe, area.

Sorry to ask but do you also need to unscrew the small bolts that are used for the cover piece (the ones that you can screw off by hand)? Or can I just remove the bolts that are obvious to take off?

The old oil pan was actually dented and I didn't like seeing it every time I did my oil change. Unless they are damaged it is not necessary to replace the oil pan when changing the gasket.

Hate to be "that guy" but the jack stands belong back under the frame in a more solid location.; this would also get the car up higher so you don't need to kiss the bottom of the engine. All in all a helpful video...

Was the check engine light on before or after you did that cold air intake project? I've got the 08 model avenger but had reserves on installing that because of the light issue.

It was on when I got the car. It has to do with the intake runner control valve.

I just bought a 08 avenger for 1200$ I’m debating flipping it or not, I just did spark plugs (had oil on them so that’s why I’m at this video in the first place I assume it’s my gasket) but I’d it a reliable car? Only 150k miles I already order brakes for it I’m figuring I could just maintain it and keep it as a cheap beater but if it’s not a reliable car I can just flip it as is for like 2400

Charger383Mopar well that’s good, I just did my front brakes today and unfortunately my caliper is seized gotta get w new one, while I was down there I noticed oil all over my oil pan but I don’t see any in the engine bay so I figured since I was gonna do an oil change I might as well do the gasket too, I keep seeing these gaskets online with this rtv shit or whatever but I see you just used the gasket? Do I have to use any sealant or can I just put the gasket on and be good?

Charger383Mopar just started doing the valve cover gasket, it will not come off, won’t even budge. Nothing is holding it in don’t know how to get it off

Any issues with the tightening process noticed you didn't use a torque wrench to tighten bolts back any oil leak issues

If you are worried about the torque on all the bolts I would recommend using a torque wrench. However to answer your question I did not have any issues with leaking.

Rtv helps to hold gasket in place, felpro gaskets much easier theyre stiffer

Don’t use the quark gasket it’ll just leak again in the next year cause quark breaks down and brittles up easier than all the other gasket

About an extra $100 adding on cause the “quark” gaskets period are garbage and dude didn’t use any gasket sealer
