Excellent video, I appreciate how you took the time to show how the connectors come off (snaps/pull) as this save's folks the headache of broken connectors due to lack of knowledge and haste. I am thankful you took this time to do the actual work without telling us what kind of race you entered before, your need to explain to us what type of garage and tools you have and the like. It was direct and to the point. Thanks again!

@mggg8498 it has, I am going to do mine this weekend. I was worried about how I would work through this and after I watched your video, I have a renewed confidence that I can approach this from a step-by-step process. I appreciate you man! I had the valve cover replaced close to a year ago at a shop and I was shocked that I am having the same issue again in such a short time. I also found short metal pins that look like bearings from a rachet in the coil space.. I removed them with a magnet and now I'm wondering what all happened during that shop visit. Anyway, thank you very much,

Just had this done today on my 09 Focus. Paid the mechanic $200. It was worth it to not have to do it myself, but after this video, I'm pretty sure I could have done it.

Hey, thank you very much for the video. But I am having difficulties removing the head temps sensor connector. I am able to remove the plastic a bit but its also connected with 2 wires and I can't seem to find the tab or release. Any tips please?

Where did you apply the rtv? Is it around the whole exterior perimeter where the larger gasket is?
@MTG6.23 жыл бұрын
No just where the front cover meets the head your going to see 2 joints on the left and right side just put alittle bit on there
@grneal265 жыл бұрын
how did you clean the oil in the spark plug holes? I need to change my plugs as well and I am afraid oil is going to leak into the cylinders.
@MTG6.25 жыл бұрын
I used a mity vac to suck the oil out of there,if you dont have one you could use some paper tower or something like that to soak up all the fluid then clean it with some compressed air

Thank you for the easy and clear tutorial but i have one question. i see that your car doesn't have a air control valve do you know why? Just asking since mine doesn't have one either and i can't find a connector or the air control valve online
@MTG6.24 жыл бұрын
Your welcome, and yes it doesn’t have one because they use an electronic throttle body that controls your idle speed,hope that answers your question

I always use the Motorcraft gasket to many issues with after-market gaskets IE felpro its oem or nothing. I have been working on the focus since 2004 for me I only use oem parts unless it is not available. but I do it for a living

I did this a few years ago and already went bad again. I did drive 100,000 miles in that time but didnt probably torque it to spec
@MTG6.25 ай бұрын
Thats a pretty good amount of miles, my guess would be the gasket just got old and brittle, gaskets get brittle and loose they elasticity over time after heating up and cooling down alot.

Is it normal that the coils have oil on them when removed?
@MTG6.24 жыл бұрын
No you shouldn’t have any oil on the coils clean off any oil or it can cause engine noise or a check engine light with a miss fire
@MrSalas-qz5tg2 жыл бұрын
Should i disconnect the battery before doing all this?
@MTG6.22 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily to disconnect it but if you are going to disconnect any fuel lines which you don’t really have to i would,or if you think you have to do it and makes you feel like its more safe disconnect it does not take long any ways just remember safety first.

I wiudl recommend cleaning them first take the rubber piece off carefully with out ripping the boot off and clean it and most of the time you should be good

What if smoke comes out from engine after replacing gasket?
@MTG6.211 ай бұрын
Sometimes when replacing gaskets you get a little bit of oil on the block or other parts of engine and you get alittle bit of smoke from the engine but just make sure there is no leaks, if there’s no leaks the smoke should go away after the engine gets up to temperature and burns the oil off,or you could wash the engine to get the oil off the engine but if it goes away after a while and you dont have any leaks you should be fine.
@yogeshthakur526111 ай бұрын
One the first day ,,it showed some smoke but ,,,now there is no smoke but it feels like like a heat wave coming through it.
@yogeshthakur526111 ай бұрын
Also we can smell something burning when we on the fan . Smell is like burning oil.
@MTG6.211 ай бұрын
I would double check you didn’t roll the gasket when you installed it just to make sure is not leaking, with a cold engine run your finger around the valve cover and make sure there’s no leaks
@yogeshthakur526111 ай бұрын
No leakage, around the gasket..

ok, so i literally JUST did the valve cover gasket...and a mechanic told me the front timing cover gasket is leaking...is this part of the valve cover gasket...as i just realized i didnt put that rtv sealant on those 2 spots
@MTG6.24 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you dont add any RTV on those 2 spots your gonna start having some seepage on those 2 spots,what i would do is clean the timing cover and any oil at top drive it for a few days and then rechecked to see where your oil leak is coming from
@cameronbevan40944 жыл бұрын

How much torque did you use on valve cover bolts??
@MTG6.26 жыл бұрын
They are suppost to be torque to 4 foot pounds but i did 5ft lbs because my torque wrench only goes down to 5 ft lbs
@tannerroath76285 жыл бұрын
I just tightened them down by hand with a screw driver that had the attachments
@timothybryant28984 жыл бұрын
89 lbs in
@JoshShirah14 жыл бұрын
Hey there, when I undo all of the bolts and attachments it’s still pretty stuck together. I see when you get to the end it starts to jiggle a bit but mine won’t budge. Do you know why this could happen?
@MTG6.24 жыл бұрын
Would recommend to check you have all the bolts out if your sure you have all the bolts out just get a thin scrapper and try to get it in between the head and the camshaft cover and pry it out when they are like that its usually beacuse the gasket its been on there for along time and just gets stuck thats all but dont pry to hard because you could break the plastic cover
@AlBaNiAnGaNgStA932 жыл бұрын
ford says 9 ft pounds, was that a typo ?
@MTG6.22 жыл бұрын
I been trying to see how to change it on the video but i dont know if i can but i did put the wrong torque spec, i went by all data and all data shows 89in lbs which is about 7.5 ft lb I’ll probably post it on the description
