2009 Louis Vutton Pacific Series BMW Oracle vs Alinghi Race 1

The Louis Vuitton Pacific Series is a regatta similar to that of the Louis Vuitton Cup or even the Americas Cup. New Zealand hosted the cup in between Americas Cup's as preparation for the 2010 America's Cup. This event is also similar to the Americas Cup world series.
The boats used were Emirates Team New Zealand and BMW Oracle boats from the 2007 Americas cup.
The skipper for BMW Oracle is Russel Coutts, and the skipper for Alinghi is Ed Baird.

I would like to see all qualifying for older America's cup like is given for theses previous year s Bermuda and Nzi stead of just finals prior to 2010

Just finished watching an older America's Cup video. By comparison, this one is much harder to follow. The cutting back & forth, zooming, computer graphics, all lend the frenetic appeal of a hockey game, but make it hard to follow the sailing.

Why were they in NZ boats.

this was the Louis Vutton Pacific Series. I remember this was a one-off. as the America's cup got locked in a court room battle and everyone's itching to race and sail. NZ and Oracle loaned the boats to keep the cost down. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Vuitton_Pacific_Series

Because the boats were supplied by the host country. They were also 'equalised' to be same speed, so it was all down to sailing and tactics.

Why didn't they use the SUI boat from 32 AC? It was clearly faster

To make it more affordable. The boats were also modified to make them more evenly matched so the fact SUI100 was faster didn't matter.

All teams used the same boat’s, it was a competition between sailing teams not boats.
