ive watched almost all of these videos, theyre very entertaining. I saw on one of the other videos' comment sections your story of creating the game, it feels and looks really similar to the stuff me and my cousins would make up to pass the time and have fun with the resources we had. the scoring system is actually surprisingly balanced, some of the "marks" are rare enough to be exciting, and the point deductions/multiplier make for a strategic element. using a football makes every throw seem unique and unpredictable. the game definitely takes skill, but isnt too difficult for the beginners ive seen. combine all of that with the announcing, multiple camera angles with camera operators, and the historical tidbits and stat tracking, its a really good production you made. I like how you took your creation seriously enough to obviously love and respect it, while also not caring too much as to make the production rigid and dry and ultra-competitive. just feels like im watching friends get together. great stuff man. you got a fan in me from western washington

Thanks for this. I'm saving this comment for later since it's such a perfectly accurate description of the game, the video, and everything I was trying to do in the early days of the game. 2023 Worlds are March 18 and that one will definitely show up here. We did film one tournament in 2011 that hasn't been edited yet; that's on the to-do list. No big productions since then.

@@rfaroofball Im also really curious about career full stats, like a career PPG type thing. My guess is that a 35-40 ppg is above average/star player level. Im a stat nerd, so I need it all!

@@failedfilmmaker Yep you're basically right on the money. Our best players average about 41 PPG. Then there's a drop off to a few in the 35-37 zone. I'm one of those. In response to your earlier comment, we'd love to come to Canada! We have one possible venue sent in from a commenter. Excited to go multi-national!

Another great tournament. Roofball reminds me of a game I made with a friend when we were young with a kickball and a baseball backstop. The game came together and made sense pretty quickly, and it was fun to just invent a game. Makes me think that most if not all sports arose from some young kids just messing around having fun. Who's the AV expert here? Seems like it would take a bit of knowhow and money to put the whole thing together, this time with a backyard view. And are these all basically neighborhood people, or do they come from far and wide to play? 2008, especially, seemed like quite the affair.

I worked at ESPN and NBC Sports Northwest, and the head of the local cable access channel ran the small production truck for us on game days. All of our players have lived within about a 20-mile radius, but that sounds like that's changing soon!
