Don't forget to check my channel for kzbin.info/aero/PLbGLzzomCfA5npQeb0jTnkevd_2UmV-FA Great games; the evolution of Payton/Brees told in their greatest games. To me: Main reason why the 09 Saints are special? Except for those Saints and 2006 Colts: ALL of the GREATEST OFFENSES in NFL history by yards, points, LOSE in the postseason. 2013 Broncos are #1 prolific offense. 2007 Patriots are #2. The Manning Colts and Brees Saints litter the list of top offenses of all time. Never ends in titles. Brady's best seasons 2011, 2017 ALSO end without titles. ONLY once did a top offense with a below average defense win it all....the 2006 Colts, with the 26th place defense in points allowed. They are STILL the greatest offenses, end of story. 2009 Saints although they forced a lot of turnovers; stealing possesions that they scored on... they STILL allowed a lot of points. When it came down to the end, to the NFC Championship and Superbowl; they won by scoring lots of points. ONE amazing defensive play by Porter helped at the end of SB; but remember, the Colts score and tie it and the Saints win by scoring again. Manning's only hope was to score so slowly they forced OT and won the coin toss and scored a TD.

Walter White cause defense wins championships baby
@WalterWhiteFootballSharing4 жыл бұрын
@@joshzpipos1 Exactly. This doesn't diminish the accomplishments of Brees & Manning. Ring counting is the worst possible way to evaluate ANY player; Brady is NOT the GOAT. Whenever he had less then top 3 defense, he lost in the postseason, sometimes blown out. Brees is at the very least the equal of Brady. If Brady can dominate in Tampa in 2020; somehow win a ring without a top 3 defense; I'll change my mind. Hell, if he even makes it close, like a 42-38 loss in the 2020 NFC Championship; that could clinch it for me.
@WalterWhiteFootballSharing Жыл бұрын
UPDATE: In 2022 Season; Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs WON it all without a top 5 D...With a 16th place Defense! This is the FIRST TIME this century an MVP QB won a Superbowl. Mahomes broke the curse of great offense in the postseason! 😀 1999 Kurt Warner won it all but his D was 4th place. 98 Broncos Terrel Davis MVP 2nd place O, 8th place D. Balance wins. 2019 Chiefs had 7th place D; still damn good. 16th, is pure average. Of course, they stepped up big in the SB, like you have to in biggest closest games.

While 10 years old, still relevant to how great offense is designed and executed. 2009 Saints were a favorite all season long for me. I Never stopped loving watching the Saints. I always feel trolls are out to troll teams. Stupid fans that don't watch closely, rewinding plays, notice greatness will call them overrated. 2010-2017 Saints were a thrilling team with the worst defenses. They allowed 23 points per game, so every win was a shootout, and still they were a contender for playoffs.
@WalterWhiteFootballSharing4 жыл бұрын
Saints, sure they lose in the postseason, NEWS FLASH: All Great teams lose in the postseason, it's a matter of luck. Case in point: The 2008 Giants 12-4 were better then the 2007 and 2011 Giants in EVERY WAY possible. In 08 the Giants had TWO 1000 yard rushers, and beat ALL FOUR Final playoff teams, Ravens, Steelers, Eagles, Cardinals. I never saw a Giants team that strong at every level since 1990. No Plax shooting himself didn't cost the season, they were a running team, that fell apart in the playoffs against a division rival eagles., could not run, or block, or tackle, or stop the run or pass. The 2007 and 2011 Giants while close to my heart, were nowhere near as good as 2018 Saints. But those Saints lost to a talented yet simple 2018 Rams....A team that depended on Play Action. Stop the run and the Rams were finished, AS SEEN in the entire 2019 Rams season.
@WalterWhiteFootballSharing4 жыл бұрын
BALANCE and LUCK wins titles, the Patriots HAVE NEVER won a Superbowl without a top 3 defense in fewest points allowed. They could have won 2019 SB with an average at best offense...BECAUSE thats what they did in 2001 and 2003! Won it all with defense and luck, like the 07 Giants, 05 Steelers, and the 2012 Ravens won it all with an unsustainable Joe Flacco offensive explosion, AND luck. Is the Flacco Ravens a great offense? Not by any measure except the casual fan that thinks 3 postseason games is the only football there is, not the .other 16. The myth that players and coaches think differently in January. The squads of January are usually weaker then September when they begin the season; as men who lost out competition for starter jobs are now starters due to injury. And majority of players have injuries they are playing through.

Man that’s awesome that you were watching at that age as I was 45 years ago. Glad you like the game. As time goes by you’ll notice that some teams become great out of nowhere like the 1999 Rams & others build dynasties. At the end of the day all you can hope for is to have tbe QB position filled long term with someone who’s excellent. Bountygate took the bite out of the Saints’ defense. As Bill Walsh said, if you have a consistently high quality process that you will produce a high quality product; you will always be in the base camp, close to the summit. Saints have done that. Getting to the Super Bowl is a bonus & there’s lots of luck involved with injuries too.

This was great to watch as a life long Saints’ fan. However it’s bittersweet too. The absolute heart-breaking, gut-wrenching, playoff losses that would follow in the coming post seasons. After this vid in the playoffs was the Seattle Beastmode run. The following year it was the 49ers Divisional Loss. Alex Smith went 90 yards in 47 seconds with no timeouts for the game winning TD. Then Bountygate, 😑... Then a playoff loss at eventual Super Bowl Champ Seahawks. A few years later, the last second Minnesota Miracle Stefan Diggs play. Then the NOLA No-Call NFC Championship loss to the Rams. Can the football gods PLEASE have injury and post season mercy on us starting this year??

I'm all for that. There's a good chance IMO that the Reconciliation of Brees and his players of color; creates a special bond; which every championship team mentions they have. I'm a by the facts, data, film guy; but watching the Year of the Scab 30for30; the way Cowboys forced half the team to cross picket lines; making the team hate itself....a stacked roster can't finish with a winning record.
@WalterWhiteFootballSharing4 жыл бұрын
I worried about the end of the Saints thrilling offense as Brees ages...so I was very happy to hear Jameis was signed. Brees was by no means great before Payton's coach. Let it Rip. I'm not a N.O. resident; so their losses don't hurt (except 2013 Patriots comeback final second; that hurt , I hate the Patriots ) I just love watching and rewatching Payton scheme 28+ points a game to win. 2018-19 they allow less then 19 points a game avg. BUT: All of Brady's Superbowls were top level defenses allowing only 15, 16, points per game. The SB is not a prize for the best offenses and QBs

Can't wait to see all the "Bounty Gate" comments. As if nearly every NFL team didn't have the same system, including the Vikings. Or like the Raiders, Eagles, Bears, Redskins etc didn't make a name knocking out and injuring players. It's a violent game, and if you're going to cry and complain about a game/season 11 years ago, for a system of violent hits that ALL teams participated in, you need to find a new sport. Consider tennis. Instead, watch the breakdown of one of the best offensive systems of the 21st century, with one of the best TV football personalities of all time

You guys got a great coach probably one of the greatest offensive minds in NFL history as a diehard Saints fan. It was tough to see him go but once brees retired that was it for him and my opinion he did one more season five straight winning season to close it out 4 straight division titles should’ve got a 2nd Super Bowl ring besides this 2010 one so he would’ve been regarded as one of the greatest coaches ever with two rings, but the refs had it out for us because Goodell has it out for us still to this day in 2024 and sad because Payton didn’t know much about what was going on behind his back and everybody knows bounties happened. Maybe not now so much, but it happens, all you have to do is google 2006 Packers bounty and that’ll pop up all over for years. I mean they made Sports sissified but I am hoping he does well for you guys. See you guys in a few days and he’ll get hopefully a warm response we are in injured and beat up, we need to get some wins. Hopefully we get a win versus Buccaneers. I wouldn’t mind losing to you guys because you’re an AFC team but obviously you wanna win every game even with all the backups for our injury decimated team that will be coming back but close we could come back and get it, but it still hurts to know Asterix Super Bowl smh.

They ALWAYS had competition on the web, in opinion, podcasts and coverage, 14 years later the competition has matured. If an analyst Says anything truthful about any team's weakpoints; pick that team to not win, that fan base unsubscribes, drags it on social media. Ive seen it 100 times with PFF and the old Footballoutsiders crew. 2/3's of fans just want to hear their team is awesome, and will totally win this sunday.

The Saints need to get back to spreading the ball around to 10 different guys on a consecutive basis. I would take the 2009 offense over the 2011 offense any day. That 2011 offense was great but all defenses had to do was contain Graham and sproles. 2009 Offense was vintage Payton schematics, defenses had to worry about the offensive line,3/4 running backs,5 wide receivers,3 tight ends,2 full backs. I blame the organization& the wide receiver draft/free agent scouting department for not doing their job scouting a deep wide receiving core.
@sainters74 жыл бұрын
Good points..but they couldn't contain Jimmy or Sproles. Niners in 2011 were the SF version of the Legion of Boom; best D in the show, in their own barn, in the playoffs. And Drew scored TWO "game-winning" TD drives on them in the final 4 min (one Jimmy, one Sproles)..his only sin being he scored them too fast. Left the Niners with enough time to hit our D with the kill-shot. I think by 2011 the D just got figured out. They missed Sharper and weren't getting the TO's, but also all those GW blitzes were sniffed out and counteracted with 6 yard quick slants that would go to the house because we blitzed everybody. SO frustrating. I dont disagree with what you said, but just wanted to add that

He end up dying anyway, a few months later in August 2013 we had a chance to be a dynasty either by hook or crook we just didn’t get it done the 2018 team had it all around a great team they really were 13 and two and then didn’t need to play the last game and get screwed because he doesn’t have the balls to call up and say no that is clearly passing affair so we’re gonna have a Super Bowl tainted if we let the Rams get in there by being Rams, just moved it felt like it was made for them and that’s why nobody really watched that Super Bowl. When they won the SB in 2009 they were in the mid 20s for total defense. the vast, vast majority teams win with top 10 or top 5 defenses. All of Montana's rings came from top 5 defenses. All but 1 or two of Brady's rings came from top 10 defenses. I couldn't imagine how many rings Brees would have if he had the team Montana had. It's sad, as I have no doubt he would have multiple rings

Its more like top 3 defense thats winning SB, spent time on Profootballreference. Its ALL of Brady's rings, 2001 it was improvement so the D was #1 by Jan. 03,04,14,16,18 always top 3.

All these people claiming bounty gate don't know what happened it was a scam against people at that time the cte thing was coming to light and the saints were the fall guy do you really think putting a so called $1500 bounty for hurting someone would change the result of a game on someone making millions on the NFL had to make it look like they were doing something from people getting hurt when in reality they can give a shit about player safety

Ah fuck it man, own it; the players admitted it, there's a tape of Greg Williams talking attack the head, head, head. There was never any question it altered the game outcomes; but the NFL will be sued out of existence for not punishing a staff for encouraging injury and esp concussions. That's what everyone fails to understand about the helmet targeting, in America, employer liability is the SOLE REASON America's workers don't get mangled and killed like they did in the 1800's. Its also what made us superior to Communism; get mangled in Soviet Factory; too bad.

OWN it. Be an outlaw. We watch 1970's Raiders NFL Films over and over because of it. Before players were smart enough to think, holy shit they're letting Atkinson and Tatum permanently brain damage me for 50,000$ a year while owners split billions in revenue. The darkness before the strikes and court cases.

@OarenWraye19864 жыл бұрын
What a amazing offense. It is not appreciated enough. Drew Brees is great but if you have a TE of that quality, Lance Moore the Saints Julian Edelman, Meacham which was a good a deep threat as any to play the game, and to tie it all together the man who is not appreciated enough, Marcus Colston the equivalent of Jerry Rice (yeah I said it) how could he not be great.
@mneck99754 жыл бұрын
1. Edelman? 2. Which one of the recievers you listed made a pro bowl? 3. Shockey was passed his prime, and Graham fell off after leaving NO. You could argue Payton is more responsible for the offensive success, but you can't say the offensive talent made Drew Brees who he is.

The "Brady is Better" 03-04 Postseason shit still pisses me off and Im not even really a Colts fan. I just knew like everyone else who knows ball that Manning was in a different category then early Brady. Didya see Brady sacking Manning and jamming, grabbing WRs every down they had to start re-enforcing rules on the books since 1978? Yeah that Brady is sure better then Manning. Manning beat Brady 3x in a row in Postseason, 06, 13, 15. Ironically when Brady was actually a top 5 QB. And in 06, Brady had a D as great as 03-04; 2006 Colts had the 6th worst Defense.

Yes! You can see it in the NFC Championship game esp, trying to hurt Vikings, beat on Favre after the throw. And 2011 when Greg Williams speech got recorded, he was talking about knocking out Frank Gore. Instead the Niners knocked out Pierre Thomas.
