I bought a set of Ruthenium - HX Plugs for my 2006 XT255. Did a google search and came to the conclusion that there was a 50-50 chance they are fake. Dont know why anybody would tool-up to make fake Spark Plugs, but still have them in the cupboard.

You know people do crazy things to make money my friend. The best place to buy spark plugs online would be rock auto. They are a trusted source from my end and I haven't had issues with them so far.

If they're iridium why do they have such a short interval? That's like 30-40k freedom units. It's "plug it in plug it in" and it was for those plug in oil air fresheners. Glade specifically I think.

Many different factors depending upon the spark plug and how the engine is timed to the bunch of other wonderful engineering mumbo-jumbo you can sometimes get plugs that last a little bit longer, however it is always recommended that you change it at the recommended interval. Sometimes you can have the opposite effect where is the plug that is better or more expensive it might wear out quicker. The safest way to maintain the vehicle is the generally go by what the owners manual says for replacement. Although they can be a bit of a pain to replace sometimes it is definitely cheaper than damaging the engine. These guys were slightly over and started to misfire already so I'm glad I replace them. You can always use the cheaper plug as well (Denso or NGK) it works just as fine. Also thank you very much I have been trying to figure out what that song was lol.
