Spark plug replacement performed on a 2010 Impreza 2.5L SOHC motor. This boxer motor is used throughout the Subaru range - Subaru Impreza, Outback, Legacy and Forester. (The Tribeca uses a six cylinder motor.) A bit more work than your inline motor, but not too bad.

Great DYI video! When it came time to change my Forester plugs, I went to several Subaru forums and they all made it seem so complicated. Watched your step-by-step video and it gave me the confidence to tackle this on my own. Piece of cake! Shop wanted $200+ to change the plugs. Did it my self for $30 and in about an hour.

This is one of the best auto repair tutorials I have ever watched. I turn to KZbin for most everything and often they're terrible. I'm considering getting a forester in the future but was a bit apprehensive since the engine layout is different, but ou make it look easy enough.

I think it's good to at least check the gap on spark plugs even if it's supposed to be pre gaped.

I've watched several other tutorials and searched dozens of forums posts - this is by far the easiest to follow. Worked for my 2000 wrx 2.5

Damn. Super underrated video. The other video that showed up before yours, the mechanic was ten minutes in talking about $50-200 dollar specialized spark plug tools and hadnt even shown an engine yet.

Thank you so much. I am not a mechanic by any means but your video completely solved my problem! I was having a rough start on my 08 Impreza 2.5i (107k miles), along with low idle, shaking and vibration while stopped, and almost complete loss in acceleration. My check engine light came on with code P0303 and P0304. I pulled out and replaced all four spark plugs and my car is running great now! Thank you.

Just got hold of a Subaru Legacy 2.0 from 2000 and it's been parked up for 5 years. I went to it with the intention of oiling the cylinders before start up, but didn't realise that the plugs were on the side. Didn't have the tools or any explanation as to how to do it. But thank you for this video, as it means I can give my new Legacy a good service before I use it as my daily. And the fact you explained the size of the extensions is bloody brilliant mate. I really wish I’d seen this last month before dropping $800 with the local subi dealer service department to replace plugs and leads plus diagnose a misfire that shouldn’t have needed doing. Thanks for a clear and easy video.

I replaced my spark plugs thanks to this video. The old spark plugs wouldn't lift out, so I put a very small amount of sticky putty inside the socket (and that worked fine).
