Crazy that this would be the first of 31 PBA titles, 15 of those majors, multiple times player of the year as well as 3 official televised 300 games. To top it all off Belmo is one of the nicest humble human beings you could hope to meet.

It's been 10 years since this landmark PBA telecast. As a Strong Island resident, I was lucky to see this live. Here are some ironies: Listen to what Randy says about Maximum Bob at 10:49. Before Belmo, Robert Smith threw the most revs on tour. I think this was also the last show Maximum Bob made. Three of the players on this show have since gone on to win a PBA title in 2019.

As someone who watches A LOT of Belmo bowling, it's great to see how much he's progressed from this to now. Watching this video, I can see he doesn't post nearly as many shots, he seems to rush everything, is less consistent, and is less level headed. Not that his 2007 game isn't still 1000x better than my current game, it was just observations I made that I found interesting. Also his rev rate in this is 650+, whereas now it's 570, I assume To help with consistency.

I did not know that Mr. Belmonte won his first championship on Long Island where we live. Somehow we did not see this match. Interesting , too, in the matches he lost and most recently won in the last two weeks(February 2020) he bowled against Bill(William) O'Neil and Richie(Dick) Allen who were in the top 5 when he won his first title. 11 years later, we would have to put Belmonte in the top 5 of all time; he may, in fact, already be #1 with the way he revolutionized the sport, not to mention the 13 or 14 majors. Randy's predictions were prophetic. I had also forgotten how funny Bob Stone and Randy Pederson(were) and are. Their self deprecatory humor, in addition to the intelligent analysis, are top notch.
