Even though Brian Valenta did not win, this was his show…

I remember years ago bowling in Chicago for a U.S. Open qualifier with Valenta and it was my first time ever seeing the 2 handed technique in use. I think it was around 2005-2006 on New Year’s Day. At that time it was the craziest thing I’d ever seen!! I’ve recently come back to bowling after a 11-12 year hiatus due to surgeries and it’s actually rarer to see a one hander like myself anymore!! 😂

I remember watching this telecast live and I really wanted valenta to win, it was so cool to watch him loft the gutter cap that far down the lane. He made it look so easy lol, regardless this was a great event to watch thanks for the memories 😊

I also noticed that Brian Valenta is very sporty and humble. At 45:40 he says he is the most inexperienced, at 46:40 he jokes about machines turned off, at 49:15 they say that Valenta told Weber that facing him on TV is a dream come true, and lastly at 58:09 he immediately shakes Pete Weber's hand instead of celebrating the victory. What a great attitude.

Poor Brian. He deserved to win for me. It was his first show and he played so damn well. I’d like to see him play again but I can't find almost anything else. It could be super unusual, but I like his style and the incredible pin action he can deliver!

Because that part of the lane is harder to play than what he is playing. Believe it or not.

Brian used to bowl at Lisle Lanes where i worked at in Illinois in 2015/16. I briefly would interact with him. Really a genuine guy! I believe he did some smaller tournaments up to 2017/18. Not really sure whats hes up to at the moment.

Brian not using bowling shoes? Is that legal?
@excess06 Жыл бұрын
I think it may be, I think I remember I can’t remember I think it was Andrew Anderson after a ankle injury he was able to wear a tennis shoe on one of his shoes, or it may have been Chapman but either way it may be
@Joey_Hammer Жыл бұрын
On PBA telecasts you don’t have to wear bowling shoes.

Why would it not be legal...
@crimsontide198011 ай бұрын
I don't wear bowling shoes either, its definitely legal. As long as they're never worn outside the bowling alley and they don't deface the approach like leaving streaks/skidmarks then they're allowed. Several PBA pros are notorious for wearing street shoes. Michael Haugen Jr. is the first one who comes to mind. I haven't had too many issues with it since mine have never marked up the bowling approaches. Did have one guy who tried to get me banned from a league many years ago, not because they defaced the approach, but just because he claimed it wasn't legal.

I watched this live. It was the one year where I took up bowling. Bowled 1 league, brought my average up to mid 180s, quit and havent played since. This makes me want to look and see if my old balls havent cracked.
@crimsontide198011 ай бұрын
If theyre older balls, they're probably fine. This newer stuff aint made the same. I've had 4 balls crack ever, all 4 were Storm/Roto Grip, and manufactured 2010 or later. All 4 bowling balls were stored inside away from the elements and yet they still broke. Talked to a guy who toured a few years back and he used to be sponsored by Storm, said they dont make their bowling balls to last. Cant make money if their equipment lasts. They only offer a 1 year warranty so if it splits 2 years later you're shit out of luck

Classic Oklahoma setting...dudes sitting around sipping on doubles and watching something instead of blasting money in the Grand...the lowest payout casino in the state lol. Pete Weber, he's uncomfortable to watch bc he's always upset about something. I can't tell if he spends a lot of time in the sun or he's just red from being mad all the time. And, why is every dude glaring at the bowlers like they are about to fight them for money lol. The background looks like a bunch of loan sharks waiting to get paid off....

Can you do better? Sign up for a PBA tournament then. They make the rules. If Valenta took part in the tournament and you didn’t, there must be a reason for that.
