First & foremost, 2 MENTAL GIANTS on the tour. Physically, Norm Duke has a whole lot of finesse to go with good fundamentals. He doesn't rush his shots. Pete Weber has incorporated the "over the bar and under the bar" technique in his swing since he met John Jowdy back in about 2009 or maybe 2010. Speaking of 2010, does anyone remember when Weber came out of that 3 year without a title period since he won the 2007 US OPEN at Carolier Lanes in East Rutherford, New Jersey? (Johnny Peteaglias home lanes). Pete Weber came out of that drought by winning the 2010 Marathon Open in Baltimore. I've seen all of Webers TV championship matches and that TV telecast was incredible. His swing was SO FLUID. He normally rips a few racks, packs some shots, and scatters pins. Yet, on that particular telecast he was "PACKING GREAT SHOTS 10 FIT DEEP".

I still think Schenkel and Burton are the two best commentators.
@christopherbramwell8262
@christopherbramwell8262 Жыл бұрын
Chris Schenkel was firmly established as Burtons announcing partner on ABC. I'm not saying that he wasn't good. He certainly was good. Yet, he wasn't great, in my opinion. Nelson Burton JR. was was exceptionally good. BY FAR better than ANY COLOR COMMENTATOR IN PROFESSIONAL BOWLING. BURTON HAD SUCH A STRONG BOWLING BACKGROUND & HE ANNOUNCED WITH BOWLING KNOWLEDGE IN SUCH A WAY THAT ALLOWED THE VIEWING AUDIENCE TO REMAIN CAPTIVATED. HE KNEW WHEN TO BE SUCCINCT AND WHEN TO ELABORATE. HE KNEW THE PLAYERS WELL AND GAVE INCREDIBLY GOOD INSIGHT. AND HE HAD THE WONDERFUL ENTHUSIASM THAT BOWLING HAD TO HAVE TO KEEP THE NECESSARY RATINGS. AND, HE DIDN'T OVER SENSATIONALIZE. HE WAS GENUINE. ONE OF PROFESSIONAL BOWLINGS BIGGEST ASSETS THAT ALLOWED THE PBA TO PROSPER. Just my perspective. And my opinions.

It's great to see professional bowlers respect each other which often happens on the PBA TOUR. Much more often than not. I just think that Norm Duke conducts himself in such a professional manner every single time. Pete is just Pete in that his love & intensity for bowling is clear in his voice. Two giants with huge mental abilities and a wealth of wisdom & experience. In this telecast, Chris Barnes is the top seed for the telecast. Hall of Famer and also a mental giant. Plus, the tournament is in Milwaukee. Bowling is huge there. Almost as big there as in St. Louis. Sorry Randy P. I just wish that Nelson Burton JR. was doing the color commentary. By far, the best announcer that bowling has ever had or will ever have. Pederson is good. Just certainly NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE LEVEL OF NELSON BURTON JR. Just my perceptions. And my opinions.

I hate it when ANYONE refers the movement of the ball as "curving". It's called a hook in bowling.A curve is baseball. Of all people Randy P ought to know better.

Jeff Bear Correct It is also called a break. But mostly hook. Some people won't agree, no matter. I bowled with Weber on the same lanes in Chicago and he had no PBA wins yet. He made the cut, I didn't and he was fit to be tied. He is hard to take, in anything. But, will win, no matter what, or how.

Not to play "armchair quarterback" but. It just seems to me that Duke had the right ball selection. He was also able to get the ball to go long because he doesn't "grab" the ball at all. It looked to me like he chose a ball that was one of the harder hitting balls. However, the great Pete Weber threw two shots where he just didn't get the ball far enough to the right and the ball "checked" too soon. This is my perception. And for all of the former "color announcer" Nelson Burton JR. fans, "Bo" Burton said it best years ago when he said and I quote verbatim, "I don't care what your name is or who you are, the tendency of all players is to pull the ball under pressure." And too, this oil pattern looked like it just wasn't easy to score on. Very long oil so it wasn't easy to get the ball to drive into the pins. Which is o.k. It just means that x-axis tilt is critical as well as having the right ball. TOO, DUKE CAN THROW "A FROZEN ROPE" so well. Pete can move way, way in and throw the ball straight pretty straight with ideal x-axis tilt like he did when winning the 2007 U.S. OPEN at Carolier Lanes in New Brunswick, NJ. but that was A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LANE CONDITION. Weber doesn't have the "frozen rope shot" in his talent arsenal yet Duke does. Very good match. I couldn't decide who to pull for. On a different day and on the exact same condition, Weber might have won. Obviously, it's "up for grabs" in a one game match where just one shot can make such a difference. And, then a solid 9 playing that deep is unusual. It was a bit high in the pocket. I THOUGHT THE INTERVIEW WITH BOTH DUKE & WEBER WAS A HIGHLIGHT. VERY CANDID. WEBER WAS GENUINE AS ALWAYS. DUKE SHINED AS ALWAYS. Just my perspectives. And my opinions.

WHAT? TV Announcer Pederson said "I know he'd be lost without her". Referring to his wife at that time, Tracy. Pete Webers marraige situation is his business and isn't anyone else business without his consent. And that goes for ANY PERSON. MY POINT IS: PETE WEBER IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT GOING TO BE LOST WITHOUT TRACY. OR ANY WOMAN. HOPEFULLY, HE FINDS A COMPATIBLE WOMAN WITH MUTUAL TRUST & RESPECT.
