AWESOME VIDEO!!! Saved me $800!!!! An auto shop was using the reason for the astronomical amount for labor was because you MUST take off the entire bumper in which we all just clearly witnessed that you DO NOT!!!

Amen, thank you for this video. Saved me nearly $900 in labor for watching a 30 minute video. Only thing I would mention is that using the caps on your new radiator to stop transmission fluid leaking when disconnecting the lines on your old radiator is a tip that came a bit too late for me (I was working step by step, and that step came after I'd already let it leak out), but still thank you for the video brother.

My radiator has a leak and a Jiffylube quoted me $800ish for parts+labor. Quick online search shows aftermarket radiator part at around $250, so most of it is labor. I am sure the dealer would charge significantly more. Thanks a ton for this video, will try this coming week

what about the transmission fluid that would need to be topped off as well right?
@HelpingHandAutoRepair
@HelpingHandAutoRepair 4 жыл бұрын
Shaun Conklin Not as most would think. If you clamp the lines hardly any comes out. Unless you fluid was already low to begin with, you are only losing the very small amount that was inside the radiator when you pull it out. We are talking maybe 1/8 of a quart.

Ok thanks I'm trying to flush my coolant on my 2007 toyota camry hybrid do you know if the peacock plug is in the same place and will the peacock plug be sufficient to drain most of the coolant ?
@HelpingHandAutoRepair
@HelpingHandAutoRepair 4 жыл бұрын
None None yes the PETCOCK is in the same place as on the radiator in this video. There is also a block drain bolt on the back of the engine on the passenger side. It’s pretty hard to get to and not sure if you should even waste your time on it. I would drain the radiator, pull the lower radiator hose off the radiator and drain what you get from there also. Lastly you could pull the upper radiator hose off the engine side and pull the water neck off and pull the thermostat out and that will let out even more coolant. That’s the best bet to get most all the coolant out of the system. Good luck.
