In any other show this kind of plot armor may be a bit annoying and predictable, but in this drama fate and prophecies are a real and important thing, and that dagger is also an iconic symbol in the story, that's why I think this was a great moment. Also, I don't think the princess knew she was going to survive because of the dagger, I think she was actually ready to die, because even if she was going to die, she still won and beat Misil, such a powerful scene!

Love the symbolism about the dagger here. King Jinheung once told Mishil that he fought a tiger. His arm was bitten by the tiger. He didn't try to get his arm out, instead he push it more to the tigers mouth with the dagger on his hand, killing the tiger by stabbing its heart. What Deokman did is she gets captured, sacrificing herself to ultimately defeat Mishil, just like King Jinheung letting his arm to be injured to killed the Tiger, and Mishil is the Tiger that has been slained by Deokman.

At first, I thought that scene was super unrealistic...for the arrow to hit the dagger and Deokman acting as if she knew that the arrow will hit the dagger instead. But now I understand that it means to show on how many times did Mishil tried to get rid of Deokman, how many times was she close enough to death but time and time again she survived. This is like another gamble, if she is destined to become a queen then she will survived if not, then someone else is meant for that throne but nevertheless Mishil lost this game, weather she kill her or not will not change the fact that she was a traitor to the throne. But in the end, she still survived, which just shows everyone that she indeed has the mandate of heaven. That's why when the arrow hit her, they showed us the heaven and sun above her.

The symbolism in that arrow was strong in this one, yeah it was unrealistic but I love it when there are symbolism like this. Seolwon shoot and hit what looked like a baby that Munno was holding but turned out to be faked. Chilsuk shoot Showa with an arrow but got saved by Munno. Cheonmyeong was hit by an arrow that was originally for Deokman. And finally the arrow that Mishil used to kill her and hit her indeed but still, failed to kill her. Like someone said, she has the mandate of heaven. It was her fate to become the Queen and not Mishil's.
