Hello, I just replaced the clutch and flywheel on an 08 Altima 2.8 s. While I got the input shaft into the pilot bearing, I can't get the two dowel pins on the bellhousing into the appropriate holes on the engine block. Does that mean I did something wrong on the install?

Make sure you used a clutch alignment tool and there's nothing around the bell housing during installation.

Maybe this helps someone else. I had the same issue. I had to sand down the dowel pins on the engine block to get them to seat. I also used an engine support bar to line it up right. Wasn’t working well with a transmission jack as I’ve done with other vehicles.

Hello sir , did the transmission go all the way on the motor without any pressure resisting it once the spine shaft was aligned to the clutch. I am having a problem with my transmission not resisting me about a half of inch on the motor once I try to install it. Thank You

Did u get it on?? I called it a day. 2 hours trying to line it up today. It was always off just a bit and a half inch gap between the tranny and engine

I just did the same job to my '08. Now I can't get it to go into reverse. Any idea what I didn't do. It's seems like it's going into 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. It's seems like I'm getting into 1st and 2nd week I pull up the reverse trigger thing but it won't go into reverse.

@Matthew Williams Yes. I forgot to connect the cable the engages reverse. So the two shift linkages I guess you would call them. On the transmission, one shifts gears and the other engages reverse.

@@oneshawnsay mine is connected and is connected on shifter side as well. But some how some way reverse is forward/1st and 1st seems to be 3rd or who knows what gear.

Did u have trouble getting the tranny to line back up on the motor?? I got everything replaced. And the damn transmission does not wanna line up, doll pins don't wanna line up and go in. Got about a half of a inch gap. 2 hours now trying to just get the tranny seated onto the engine.

One last question. What did you use to hold the trans up 2 jacks or a transmission jack ?

Ratchet straps... Looped it around the subframe and back to the transmission.

Brother how’d you get the flywheel to stop turning in the wrong direction ? Breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt ?

Lock the the crank shaft pulley with a breaker bar... It'll work just fine

2008 just did this and for some reason cannot go into reverse or 1st anymore... Any thoughts on this? did exactly what you have done in videos but obviously something i am missing and can't figure it out.

For those who want to know yes you can do it on the 3.5 youre just not gonna have as much space just take the ring off the alignment tool and put the prsssure plate on the shaft before getting the clutch in there. It's a bitch but it's possible
