At the time SLP sold their ZL packages for installation outside their facility. I had their ZL435 package (just intake, cat back, and tune) on a C6 that I bought from SLP directly and installed myself. It came with the “ZL435” fender badges. Sounds like this Camaro had a similar (more badass) package installed at a performance shop that was an SLP dealer.

@@RegularCars I suppose as real as any other 2010, when they were selling the kits over the counter. I’d give them a call. Dave Hamburger is pretty fanatical about keeping records of past SLP vehicles and has looked up a few 4th Gen f bodies for me. It definitely sounds to me from the invoice you read through that it was done at that performance shop in Bogata, not as an upfit from new at SLP’s facility. They sold off the SLP brand to Rausch years ago, but still operate in the same facility in Toms River, NJ under the name “SVE” (Specialty Vehicle Engineering). I was over there 2-3 weeks ago and they had to have 25-30 new Camaros in line ready for their 700-1000hp Yenko packages. They run a real impressive operation.

@@TheyCallMeMrMaybe That sounds more supercar than muscle car to me. How is a muscle car arrogant or egotistical when they're cheap? Also, how are they excessive when a majority of them are actually used for their purpose? There are many muscle cars that can be found at a local drag strip. Supercars are literally used by the wealthy just to show off and almost never get used on the track, most of the time the cars can't even survive the track, which is so pathetic. Comparing any ICE performance car to an EV tends to be kind of stupid because it always comes down to the EV winning _in straight line speed._ It's the same useless contest of muscle cars of the '60s where it's not the driver or the engineering of the vehicle itself that matters, only who has the most power for that short sprint (and thus whoever had the most money to dump into the car to get that power). A Model S still can't take a turn as well as an SW20 MR2 despite being able to outrun one on a flat stretch of interstate. That's the same path this Zeta Camaro follows in only being about straight line speed. That path is why the Alpha platform Camaro has shifted away, because other cars are always going to outrun it in a line. So instead you outcorner, outbrake, and outlast the competition.

That's because even the highest model Tesla remains a basic bitch sedan -- tuned. Real comparisons will start when purpose designed electric sports cars come to market. And it won't even be a contest.
@VulpesHilarianus
@VulpesHilarianus 2 жыл бұрын
@@kitten-inside It will still be a contest. You're forgetting about the weight. That in itself is the reason why the Tesla can't take a damn corner. Despite the center of gravity being low the batteries balloon the weight up to 4,600 pounds. That's heavier than even the final generation CTS-V, a well known pig. The Rimac Concept Two weighs even more at 4,750 pounds. That's why I made the comparison to muscle cars. Heavy cars that can only do drag strip style pulls because the inherit design prohibits them from handling well. The only way I see this changing is if we somehow come up with a lower density battery, because the current lithium cells are just too dense and thus too heavy when put into an array.

@@christopherfetty7947 I can definitely agree with that, I think the raw appeal of it being like an older style muscle car is what appeals to me, Mr.Regular also sold me with comparing it to the mad max interceptor. But then again most of my experience of sporty vehicles is a manual AWD car that hits corners all day.

@@gagerobins9481 Yeah, to be fair I would absolutely get a hellcat if I had the opportunity. I guess the thing is that I moved from a modded WS6 to a Fiesta ST because I realized that for all that power I still rarely went above 90 or so on the road. The WS6 was fun and had all the character in the world, but ultimately I would say that my current car actually has more usable performance. Add to that the fact that I was driving 60+ miles per day and it just didn't seem worthwhile.

For a normal person the plad is awesome. But for a car enthusiast, the camaro is the way to go. My cousin took me for a ride in his tesla suv (idk what it's called) and yes it was fast but there was no thrill. I didn't offer to take him for a ride in my 325hp 1984 rabbit gti because it's apples to oranges. He's not a car person but there's something to driving my 84 hearing all the sounds, pops and whistles it makes. There's literally no comparison to the two besides they have 4 tires.

I really like your videos, I always have to pause and rewatch bits, either due to me laughing too hard, or wanting to actually appreciate the useful information. I love the local references. When you said "from Delano, PA" I almost choked on my bong smoke, I used to ride dirt bikes around Delano, and start off-road adventures there, I think I even swam in the nasty little pond once. I can 100% picture that band playing at the summer block party. Bon Jovi and Poison covers, and of course Brown Eyed Girl on the last day of the party, Shit, Delano hasn't done a firehouse picnic in quite a while. Perhaps too many dirt bikes racing "muscle" cars after an argument at the beer tent. 😂 More likely just a side effect of generations leaving the area. We need cars to go back to 190HP V8's so they can make all the thunderous grumble and rumble, but not actually go fast enough to get over 90 MPH😁 If we could just do that, but without all the pollution, that'd be swell.

On the SLP ZL Camaros the SS badge insert and grill kit are to install the 'Heritage' style SS badge, front and center in the grill. This was something not included on the regular SS. The SS had either a small white or red SS badge on the driver side of the grill, and also the passenger side of the trunk lid, with a bowtie in the center upper grill and center trunk lid. The SS badge color depended on whether it was a non-RS (white badge), or a red badge for a SS/RS. The options list for this car can get confusing, as there is also a 1SS and 2SS. All SS cars had gray Brembo calipers with silver 'CHEVROLET' lettering and red 'Brembo' lettering - up until the 1LE was released for the 5th gen, with 1LE's getting red calipers among many other features. My 2010 SS is spec'd as a 2SS/RS. Most reliable car I have ever owned and built like a tank

My freshman year of high school was 1996, and so far as regular cars go in the United States, 275hp was the top of the mountain. And that was something, because my first car was sporting a 350 small block which made a grand total of 185 hp when new. It made all the right noises and looked fast as hell, but due to a list of issues from bottom basement compression ratios, to first gen emissions controls that manufacturers hadn't figured out how to make power with yet. And those low power figures were the norm, in 1989 the plastic fantastic corvette made 245hp (I know the zl1 was a thing but not a regular car by any means), and the Mustang was mustering 225hp out of its 5 liter engine. And then the 92 model year came around and a magic number was reached when the corvettes lt1 squeezed out 300 net Hp, which seemed to reinvigorate the publics craving for some old school go fast and the auto makers obliged. A few years later the Ls engine hits the scene and we started seeing power levels that hadn't been a thing since 1970. And then we passed the original muscle car era levels of power (yes, no engine from the 60's or very early 70s made the kind of power that we've seen on offer in the last 15 years). Suddenly the base V6 cars were making 300+ hp and the big 3 all have V8s making cartoonish absurd power figures from the relatively tame mustang 5.0 with 450ish hp, to the Hellephant making 1000hp. And that's kind of the problem, because as engine tech got better and better, like with the Ls family having heads flowing amounts of air that the og small block could only manage in racing trim, to the digital controls employing extremely.powerful and cheap.processing power that allowed for these modern engines to get far better fuel economy and produce less emissions than their ancestors of the 60s, all culminating in an environment where making huge power was almost too easy. In 2015 I was selling cars for a Dodge dealer and when the HellCat was announced my second reaction was people are gonna die (my first reaction was 😃). And so ot was after my co worker sold a HellCat to a guy who'd promised his son Amy car he wanted if he got into the school they'd decided on I can't remember maybe Yale, but anyway he insisted even after having it explained that this car was not for the uninitiated, and just over a month later the kid was dead after losing control of the car. It wasn't raining, snowing or whatever it was 80 degrees, sunny and dry. But he had turned off some of the driver aids which are annoying in most cars but are required in a Hellcat, and when he put his foot down the rear tires broke free and after that it was all over. And the worst part is he took his girlfriend to the grave with him. Point here is Brian's right these massive hp numbers are meaningless anymore especially when you consider that a 3rd gear pull puts you at speeds where if caught you don't get a ticket, you get a jail sentence. 300- 400 hp is plenty for the street, it's enough to have fun and probably not catch a charge
