Phillip Bailey Well if you ever run into a problem on the 2005 or newer jeep grand Cherokee’s I don’t remember if I ever made video of it but you can remove the heater core without removing the dash. But there is a support bracket that you have to cut and then re-weld and that’s why I’m not sure if I made video of it because I didn’t want to tell people to be cutting support brackets and rewilding them back together. Question: Do you suggest pinching the hoses in the front of the fire wall, or is it really necessary?
@PhillipBailey3 жыл бұрын
if you don't intend to drain the cooling system then you should relieve the cooling system pressure and reinstall the cap, then pinch the two hoses with hose pinching pliers. Otherwise the engine coolant will leak onto the floor. You will still get about half a quart from the heater core and pipes so I used a wet vac to capture it so as not to flood the carpet. Ideally you should be flushing the rest of the cooling system so draining the entire system would be required. Your call.

@@PhillipBailey my a/c compressor is getting no power since heater core replacement or at least it isnt kicking in when turning on ac. Also the replacement was done as in the video above
@PhillipBailey5 жыл бұрын
Then I would suggest that the AC system could be low on refrigerant. There are no wires in this area that should affect the operation of the compressor. Have the system pressures checked. Check fuses as well. Good luck
@lilh11275 жыл бұрын
@@PhillipBailey What all fuses to check?
@PhillipBailey5 жыл бұрын
If it's manual AC (not dual zone) then there are two fuses in the TIPM under the hood M34 and M11 check those. The compressor Clutch is controlled by the PCM based on network data from the AC control head. You may need to have it scanned for codes, in the HVAC, PCM and TIPM. You will need a factory level scanner for this. Next have the system pressures checked but the PCM or TIPM should have codes related to low refrigerant.

i have a 2016 and my rear heat wont get hot do you think its the heater core?
@PhillipBailey6 жыл бұрын
It's difficult to say. Start by making sure the cooling system is full. If this has the tri-zone system make sure the rear controls are not set to cold. Check the two heater lines running to the rear under the vehicle. With the vehicle running, hot and controls set to Max heat both lines should be hot and nearly the same temperature. If one is significantly colder this indicates poor circulation and is likely a clogged core. Otherwise diagnosis of the controls requires a factory compatible scan tool. Hope this helps.

No they are not. The heater core which I replaced in this video is for heat and the evaporator core is strictly for AC operation. To replace the evaporator core requires evacuation of the AC system and then complete heater assembly removal. Requires entire dash be removed. It's a major job. HtH

Thanks for the positive comment. If you're smelling coolant you obviously have a leak. Low coolant level reduces heater performance. You need to find the source of the leak. Have the cooling system inspected for obvious leaks. May even be the heater core leaking but that would tend to fog the windows.

Thanks, my car is 2012 Chrysler 200
@PhillipBailey3 жыл бұрын
@@deserteagle2209 fogging in cool weather is likely a sign of a heater core seeping coolant and it does not take much coolant to cause a problem. On another note make sure the recirculation door is not in tge recirculation mode. Reheating the humid cabin air increases humidity and will cause fogging of the windows. Poor heat on the passenger side is likely a heater core restriction though especially if it's not a dual zone system. Good luck.

Aluminum heater cores fail and leak into the car too. In my opinion this will last longer than the rest of the car. I haven't seen a radiator hose or heater hose just fail in nearly 20 years. Sometimes the clamps rust and fail but being protected under the dash it's not likely going to happen.
