My 2011 Escalade with the 6.2 sounds the exact same. I’ve put 100k on it since the noise started and it hasn’t got any worse. The truck now has 290k miles and runs great, just piston slap from hell when it’s cold.

Sounds like my 2011 Escalade. On cold start, it sounds like its going to kick all 8 rods out of the block.

Mine has piston slap as well. But it will only do it cold under load (driving), then will stop after driving for a few minutes.

Would love to hear more on the subject. GM says normal?? Any fix other than a rebuild with new pistons?

Nope, must replace the pistons, guarantee this truck has at least .010 piston clearance (as loud as it is) . GM is full of it

@@mark_osborne I wonder if gm was considering recalling these engines? I understand that a high hp/rpm engine requires more clearance, but at slightly over 100k this should not be an issue.

My Denali 1/2 ton 2013 sounds like a diesel on cold start then stops when it warms up is there any oil additive that helps

I have a 2010 Escalade esv that dropped a valve seat and bent pushrod, blew piston and wrist pin into the cylinder through watch jacket.. ended up just putting a 5.3 in. Heard nothing but garbage about the 6.2s

@@mark_osborne guess I’ll be the first person with a 5.3 in a GMT900 Escalade, honestly runs like a 6.2 since it was tuned
