PRO TIP, when starting a spark plug, turn it a time or two counter clock wise until you feel or hear it click. Then start tightening it. Prevents cross threading.

wish I could find a video showing the plug replacement for a hybrid. There is a bunch of stuff over where the plugs are.

Some facts-That is a spark plug socket not an adapter. It is a 5/8" socket in 3/8" drive. Don't use anti seize. An opinion-don't use a hammer and a vise to close a large spark plug gap just tap in on your work bench or a solid clean surface. Also agree with the iridium warning below

Never start a plug with a wrench. One thing my father always taught me. Always tighten by hand

When he takes of bolt he says its 10mm but when he puts it back on, he says its an 8mm. How did he get that bolt to be smaller just by taking it off?

I was about to change my spark plugs, but when I took the boot out, there was a bunch of oil in there. I couldn’t even see the spark plug. What does that mean?
@salaciouscrumb94435 жыл бұрын
You have a leak in your valve cover, causing oil to go into the spark plug well. Order a new gasket and install it yourself. There is a great video on how to replace it, I'll post the link.

Definitely a valve gasket cover leak ...honestly a cheap repair
@fernandomanueljaurrieta4503 жыл бұрын
Same thing with mine. So It's best to just put the boot back in until that gasket is repaired right?
@keithnorman49853 жыл бұрын
I had the same issue but I changed my valve cover and it fixed the leak
@barrerasa947 жыл бұрын
Should you replace the boot while youre at it or is it not necessary?
@soccerharms7 жыл бұрын
I don't think it would be necessary unless you see significant wear on it or if you have issues after the new spark plugs are installed. However, isolating the issue to the boot would be a difficult diagnosis in the garage.

Dustin is Wright you need to start it first with your fingers and I wouldn't use that ratchet to tighten it tighten the spark plugs with your hand and i wouldn't put that stuff on mine spark plugs because heat from the motor will make it cease to the block it's has happened to me before and it was the same exact thing you got in your hand

Anti seize is bull shit. Every time I use it on a bolt or somthing it seizes. Never a spark plug.
