Which is the passenger side and which is the driver side?
@MrRhythmguitar5 жыл бұрын
Nice video, I was able to follow the steps to replace both the left and right Drip Edge Molding parts. Here the parts were about $115 each from the Honda dealer, and the clips were about $3 to $5 depending on the type. The box that each molding comes in is 8 feet long, about 18 inches wide and 4 inches deep, about the size of a surf board. By folding down the rear seats and moving the passenger seat all the way forward and reclining it I was able to take one box home in my Civic per trip from the dealer. The yellow and blue clips, underneath the floppy rubber bit, can be more easily removed by using a small flat head screwdriver to release the tab through the slots on the white clips that are attached to the body. The clips are fragile, so be careful. The section that runs along the roof can be most easily removed by tilting the drip edge molding towards the center of the roof. Again, remove the parts slowly and carefully to avoid breakage. My advise, pick up some extra yellow clips. Depending amount of deterioration you may find that some of the clips are damaged, also they break fairly easily. I also discovered that one on the white clips along the windshield had only half the plastic remaining and I had to run over to the dealer to pick up a new one before proceeding. The entire process took about 35 to 45 minutes per side. It was fairly easy to do. I can't believe that Honda wanted about $200 in labor for each side to do this relatively easy fix. Thanks for the video, great job!

Excellent Video. I followed these simple steps and completed the job in about 40 mins. (I could do it in half the time if I had to do it again). Parts were $92 each at my local Honda dealer. Called first to make sure they were in stock. Part numbers for 2008 4 Door Civic were: 73158-SNA-013 and 73168-SNA- 013. Left and Right.

Thanks for the video!! Here’s another PRO-tip when removing the old molding! 👉 you can avoid breaking a clip by pushing on the yellow tab you can see through the window of the white clip, as you pull it upwards.. I'm adding another "thumbs up" for the OP's creation of this video. Like others, I needed to replace one (driver's) and the other was showing serious signs of deterioration as well. (vehicle is 10 years old, though.) The dealer's price for labor/installation was insane. Labor at home took about 40 minutes, and saved about 200 bucks. Note: For those considering a do-it-yourself option.. the installation isn't bad. However, where you order the parts from will make a difference. True, dealership pricing isn't cheap. However, if you order online, note that not only are you paying shipping, the cost will be far more than usual as the parts come in boxes that are about 7 feet in length. Therefore, (as I understand it) they can't be shipped through regular protocols are are considered "Freight", adding even more to the shipping costs. Go ahead and buy the parts at the dealer. Handle the installation on your own. Oh.. go ahead and purchase at least replacement yellow clips. The ones in place may have deteriorated and could break off when removing the older parts. It's far better to pay the extra and have the clips available, than to risk breaking one, and have to make a second trip for parts.

If you are going to replace this yourself you need to know that simply pulling the trim to unclip doesn't work. You want to use a flathead screwdriver to press the part of the clips that are holding onto the part that's connected to the car. This allows you to remove the trim and reuse the clips. I just replaced mine and broke three clips in the process.
