I have the same van. Same year, same color exterior, interior. 182k miles as of today. Lots of miles come from our annual road trips adventuring throughout the country. We have a family of 5, and use a roof cargo box (20 cu ft) and a Yakima bike hitch. Added rear seat movie screens for the kids. Van has been great, but starting to require a lot more maintenance in the last year. In 2023, I've done: oil change, trans fluid, repaired broken sway bar links, battery, alternator, cabin and airbox filters, recharged A/C, repaired trunk latch, and probably a bunch more. Driver's side sliding door no longer works. Otherwise pretty good.

That is a lot of maintenance work! Are you planning to sell the vehicle soon?

@@FlyBeee I have three kids coming into college in the next few years, so the plan is to save money instead of replacing the van. Especially since a new van is $45k+ even for a mid spec, Non luxury model. I will do as much repair work as I can, although there’s some stuff I don’t feel comfortable with, like replacing the power steering pump which needs to be done ASAP.

We also have a 2010 bought in 2009. Just rolled over 100k the other day. Still drives like and have never had a major issue beside a power steering hose. Oil has always been changed regularly as well as the tranny fluid. We have no intentions of getting rid of it and will keep driving it for hopefully another 10 years!

Thank you so much for sharing the details! Yep, this is an awesome vehicle! Definitely a long term keeper. A few things come due for replacement around 100K miles, most notably: transmission belt + coolant, and spark plugs. Coolant and spark plugs are easy DIY under 30 mins and I have video on both in this channel in case you are interested.

Thank you and very kind of you to say. Frankly, it doesn't stay clean like this. it is family vehicle for kids and sees a lot of use and is gets dirty ... a bit less now compared to when kids were little. I just clean it often and made this video when I had just cleaned it, lol.

I have 07 odyssey ex-l with 160k miles I just acquired from my sister that needs about $1000-$1500 investment. That should give it another 16 years :)
@FlyBeee Жыл бұрын
It is a good vehicle, but also depends on how it was used and whether it is northern vehicle with rust. Please consider all this as well. If good condition then it should work for many years. Best wishes.

Oh wow, I just bought one identical to yours. The only thing that my front end is a bit lower than your. I’m wondering if I change the front struts including coils it will pick it up an inch or so. Then it will look perfect. If anyone can agree or correct me if I’m wrong, I would appreciate it.

Congratulations on your purchase! I have owned MANY honda and Acura vehicles and this Odyssey is the best - the perfect combination of reliability, features and a family vehicle with just regular maintenance. I sill drive this 2010 Odyssey that you see in video. If you just purchased one then my 2 cents would be to check that vehicle was mechanically maintained on schedule - and if no history then do this yourself and take care of it first. The front shocks may have been replaced with aftermarket and therefore vehicle is lower. You can get that changed later.

116,000 miles is NOT a lot. I have a 2007 silver Honda odyssey and it’s almost 260,000 miles. 116,000 is still brand new.

i am getting envious of all the trips you have taken on your Odyssey to get to 260K miles! lol Any suggestions about maintenance to make the vehicle last this long?
@shapoval915 ай бұрын
@@FlyBeee I am the 1st and only owner on my odyssey. All the service I have done is from the Honda dealership- yes it’s expensive but they know what they are doing and they do it correctly because it’s their own vehicles with their own parts.Their was few times I took it to a different shop not thru Honda dealership to save money but they just made it worst which cost me more money fixing it at the Honda dealership. I kept all my maintenance up to date- never missed any maintenance- I dont drive crazy or make any crazy turns or hit the gas then brake hard - you’re just destroying your vehicle and ruining it- take care of it and drive carefully and it will last you for a long time. Been all over in America with this van and Mexico. I had a 99 ford windstar before buying the odyssey got it to 240,000 before the engine started having problems- I will Never buy ford again ( maybe ford trucks we will see) and same with Honda- I like more Lexus and Toyota.

How many miles do you have to change the atf fluid
@FlyBeee5 ай бұрын
Honda says 'replace' fluid every 30K miles. Replacement takes 3 drain-and-fill. I do one drain-fill every 10K miles to keep fresh fluid in vehicle. Please also see description of this fluid change video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqOmgZZvqZV8hrc

As he correctly stated, it uses a timing belt.

Home Honda vehicles use timing chains, but this model Odyssey uses timing belt. The change interval is listed in its maintenance schedule.

No discussion about gas mileage. lol
@FlyBeee11 ай бұрын
The gas mileage is right on manufacturer specs, which is 17/23 city-highway. Not wonderful but still decent for a large 3 row heavy vehicle. I figured anyone interested in specs can find it online and compare with other options so focused my review from user perspective. A hybrid would give better fuel economy but it is tradeoff of upfront cost vs a non-hybrid or used vehicle. Each person can decide what they prefer.
