@Theaterman527 Watch more football. College football is much different than the pros in that there are massive disparities in the skill of individual athletes. The spread offense is designed to get skilled players in space and create one-on-one matchups that are very winnable. This is hard in the pros because defenses are better and athletes are closer to each other in skill level.

@x20michigan yeah Michigans Defense was HORRIBLE no offense but with that defense a lower level Pac 12 school could move the ball

@Theaterman527 I guess if you've been raised on 3-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust, it's a little hard to get away from it. You're not alone. The spread is the primary reason we don't see shutouts in college football anymore. It's much harder to defend consistently because the correct scheme is required in space on top of the correct athletes, while the power-I runs can be defended merely if your front seven are big and hit the right gaps near the line.

@Theaterman527 Ha ha. I'm flattered. I'm just a pretty avid fan and I go to Michigan...I'm an engineering student. One my biggest regrets in life is not playing football in high school (we sucked and I played soccer instead), so I guess I compensate by following it to a fault.

@Theaterman527 We firebombed the #12 defense in this game and put up over 500 yards on a top-10 offense when we played Iowa. Look at Oregon, Texas last year, TCU...they all run the spread. There are running spreads and passing spreads, but at last glance, 7 of the top 10 offenses run a form of the spread.
