great vid! this is my inspiration for my 2014 Forester XT. About to order the king springs and the spacers. Your front and rear bumpers are awesome! I might have found a local guy here in San Diego for the front and rear bumpers, if not I'll have to contact the guys that did yours. Thanks for taking the time to do this video guys! I can't stop watching it :)

I carry a $30 cooler and a 3x4 grid for cooking on ground fire, cost under $50. Knife on my side and the wood I cut for my fire is also my cutting board. 2 cast iron skillets also double as my plate. French Press for my coffee Couple cups and set of 6 forks That leaves me a lot of extra space for BEER I like to camp when I camp.

I'm glad I found this channel. Up until 3 years ago I never called it overlanding, I apparently been doing it my entire life, but never called it overlanding. My dad always called it 4x4 camping where it would be us in a half ton ford with a slide in bed camper and driving old mine and logging trails in the Canadian Rockies. Thats a sweet subaru build.

Love it! A few of us Foz owners over here have been drooling over Herman for some time. I got a similar model (same colour too :-) ), lightly modded for offroading - also running Kings, AT tyres, some underbody protection and a Mishi radiator. Also have a home-made roof rack with Jerries and an extra spare tyre. She's done a few really cool trips, among others a 6,000km trip through Namibia. Such a good all-rounder!

Harley... You and your Subaru had me salivating all over the keyboard! Congrats, buddy! One thing you did not mention (and I believe it's extremely important) is the armouring of the body's underneath. The CV ad their boots, the engine's oil pan and transmission's are all very exposed. I would suggest a couple of re-bars from front cross member to oil pan's location, reinforced by another two or three cross re-bars, all welded, and a plastic (ABS) sheet to keep the engine's temp to be swept in winter time, dropping the engine's overall temp. Loved your Led's! Again, congrats.
@HudsonZRoamer7 жыл бұрын
I do have the underneath covered just didn't mention it in the video.

That kitchen is so well thought out ...absolutely love the bumpers The 2 things to make this 99% ( in my humble opinion) would be a roof tent and solar shower both of those items would make this over the top ... What is your ground clearance? What size tires? ... This mini beast is so freakin tuff lookin and probably gets around 20 mpg !!! Too cool !!!

I love it! Only changes I would make would be to get weight off the rear bar. Maxtraxs on the roof and ditch the carrier, put a 12v pump water tank on the floor behind front seats and ditch the rear water jerry, and turn gas jerry sideways). That would probably get about 70 pounds off the rear bar and really improve weight distribution.

So true about Australia having lots of manufacturers, Subie's are the best down here in Australia. Some very nicely modded Outback's and older Foresters that are truly set up for VERY rough Australian Outback tracks. Thanks for the great video, brilliant rig, attempting to do so with my Outback right now, thankfully down under its a touch easier, but still expensive and more difficult than if the same mods were done to a Landcruiser and so on. Brilliant brilliant cars, so capable. Just one question. Have 2 inch strut lift on 05 Outback with BG Goodrich KO2's. I've been warned against King Spring lift due to problems aligning wheels and angles and so on. What issues have you had and where have you changed things so issues don't come up? After all, I'm running about 70mm at the moment almost 80mm in rear, but another half inch from springs would be awesome ONLY is safely viable! Let me know, cheers! Daniel.

Got a turbo diesel Forester in the UK and love this one. Really like the LED's in the tailgate, that looks very neat. The boxer engine and drive train is amazing. I'd love a low range but that looked like Australia only option. Problem with the UK is the National Forests all charge for overnight and camping anywhere. It's not easy to camp as we have no BLM land. Everywhere is manicured camping with fees to match. Even standard Foresters have a "presence".

Hola John, also in SA here. I put Method 502's w/ Yokohama Geolanders on my Outback. Great combo, looks cool w/out the cheezy aftermarket ricer effect, and perfect tire for part-time off-road, but still a clean quiet ride on the highway.

i think it would be really cool if Subaru actually made a solid rear axle 4x4 similar to say the Toyota 4Runner
@HudsonZRoamer8 жыл бұрын
Agreed. There is a guy on Instagram (ryanreid13) who has actually done a solid axle conversion on his Outback and its a freaking monster. Its cool what he is doing but makes me wonder if its still really a Subaru at that point, its still cool though. I don't see Subaru going this route unfortunately. Their roots are in rally and they seem to be finding a certain formula that their cars appeal to the mass market. I just hope Subaru doesn't mess with their AWD system (make it worse or dumb it down) in future cars because if they did it would lose a lot of die hard fans.

And also I don't know what's box in the back that you guys didn't talked about.

Have they found an aftermarket part for the cv joint yet? Because from my understanding the c.f. joint can only take 2.5" and 3" is pushing it... the only reason I would keep my future forester stock height. Something doesn't seem right lifting the rig if there isn't an after market part for the cv joint to take the lift. Where's the real lift kits and not the wannabe shot spacer lifts?
