Great project my friend - great to see you have our Aussie Pedders and Redarc equipment - I now drive a Toyota Hilux but miss my Subarus after owning 12 of them - so later this year I will look for another XT Forester for weekend drives - most of us would scrap a fully rusted car so you’ve done a good job - rust is rare here in Australia even here in Tasmania - you can’t beat the Subaru exhaust growl which you can only get from unequal exhaust headers as post 2013 Subarus have equal exhaust headers (no growl) and sound uninteresting to my ears.

czesc, jak tam idzie? whatsup? thanks for the great video. especially because I am also about to get my ass into a 2004 subby 2.5xt. that is how i found your video. I really respect your attention to detail, cleaning the interior rust was the right move! jestem zadowolony. thats just the beginning. Doing your own artwork, and setting up the color scheme. so awesome. i hope your made room for a real good sound system in there. the FM transmitter deal, especially after all the hard work with the insulation and sound proofing... The right sound system in there would make it into a Space ship, that takes you away to a whole other level. great video. koham was. czesc

Holy cow, what dream car! Spent this entire summer on and off dealing with the typical rust issues along all wheel housings, axles and suspensions on my 2004 2.0X Fozzy as best as a lowely amateur could go in a garage. Still lots of stuff to do, especially the mentioned sheet-metal bodywork to be inspected and treated. But I've decided to turn the "big guy" into a hunting project car, since it's the main purpose I use it for. I wish I had the time and resources for such a build, but anyway, it's a top motivation of what's possible with these awesome cars. SGs are the legend!

First I will say I love the attention put into this build. Looks like you had a vision and it turned great. I have been rebuilding my own with the same ideas in mind. Maybe I missed it but you have me curious as to the style of tank for LPG. Is it the pancake style sitting in the spare tire well? I like the idea of having a secondary fuel source but not sure how many years of driving it would take to be really worth a propane install.
@adventurevanconversions9 ай бұрын
It is pancake indeed in the spare, 55 liters of LPG, the investment is back after first 10.000kms as the LPG is 50% cheaper than regular 95-98 Petrol :) Subie takes around 16-20 liters of petrol as it is now depending on the driving style :)
@HomebrewSubaru9 ай бұрын
@@adventurevanconversions It is something I am going to want to reconsider. I see LPGSHOP in the UK has a great selection. Not much in the American market I can find. Like to see how the hosing and connections are routed. It's cool.

It's REALLY too bad that Subaru doesn't offer the 2 speed transfercase in the U.S. I love Subies but this is one of the main items I think is/was not offered that keeps me from buying one. Because of the driveline architecture, there is no alternative to swap from other manufacturers. Your model generation is still my favorite..
@veganpotterthevegan2 ай бұрын
They don't offer them anywhere anymore. That said, I don't think they make a very big difference because the gear down is so small for the subies that have them.
@Namesakes.unit-x-10sq108 күн бұрын
Best bet is to get a Forester XT automatic trans with trans cooler and upgraded rear diff. You'd be amazed of what you can do with the 4Eat and low end torque of the turbo engine!
@veganpotterthevegan8 күн бұрын
@Namesakes.unit-x-10sq10 the gearing isn't very good for our 4eats. That torque with lousy gearing is often going to just get you dug deeper into a hole. *Definitely worth getting a trans cooler though. But that's true for many people that don't tow or take their vehicles off road

because we like Subaru :) It's size is perfect to fir in very narrow roads. In overlanding it is more important for us than 4x4. We do not go on the other side of the planet to play in off-road, we go to explore.
