Love it or hate it, it's the only compact SUV that actually has off-road credentials. It's not for everyone, but if you actually use your SUV off-road, this is the one to consider. I think it's a great looking vehicle...Clean dash, and exterior lines look very good.

@@Fortuna_716 A quick KZbin search pulls up many videos from Central and South America, Israel, Ukraine and other Slavic countries showing what this can really do. It's impressive what these can do with little modification beyond just a good set of A/T tires. There's a GV club in Israel and their videos are well made and they really put the GVs through it's paces.

@@giantfoam The 3.2 V6 is a great engine, Suzuki did a great job with it. I have 220 000 KMs on mine and all I’ve done is oil changes 👍🏻

The Compass and Patriot are good compact SUVs, but they lack a true 4wd system (they're AWD), and don't have low range...The Grand Vitara has a unibody that is mated to a ladder frame, the Patriot and Compass are both Unibody..

@sexyboi142 Actually something that I noted is that the Vitara is no longer coming with V6 engine, just the 2.4 4cyl. I checked the figure and it seems they improved that engine, but still the car has some interior details that doesnt convince me, I think I could live with them if I just pay attention to its off road capability and other good stuffs that car comes with.

They drove out these smaller manufacturers that focus more on engineering smartly with a small budget, now you have to spend so much on safety you have to make the rest of the car really shitty to stick to a price point.

I drive a 2.7 v6, wish it was a 3.2 or more, pretty weak engine. I like the car, it has aged very well, if they made a 2020 model with same design nobody woul question it, very good classic yet modern look! The worst part is the seat, garbage, and also changing the oil on the 2.7 is like a little trip to hell, awful!

I have the 3.2 and its been bulletproof! Its made the Suzuki a very capable machine off road.

Overall I liked my mom's '06 Grand Vitara, but because it was the first car I ever drove, it found the very-touchy brakes to be disconcerting. The interior was nice overall and very attractive, although the rear seats felt jacked-up in the air. When I transitioned from the Suzuki to an '03 Windstar, I was shocked by how much more pleasant the minivan was, from the ride, to the pedals, to the steering. The Suzuki won in interior touch-points, but I could never love it like I love my van.

@axlplayer14 Each has their own set of advantages and disadvantages. But the main advantages of the SUV are its ability to do things that most people never ask them to, like tow yachts and boldly carry 8 kids where no vehicle has ever gone before. I think most people choose SUVs because they want to pretend that they're not driving a child-hauling machine.

Vitara has DATED ENGINES, IS BELOW THE AVERAGE MPG FIGURE IN THE SEGMENT, the interior design is far from appealing and the model hasnt changed in more than 5 years. it has good off road capabilities, but with those weak and inefficient engines available, it is easily outperformed by a Patriot or a Compass with Freedom Drive traction system. And FYI, it is already announced, For 2013 the Vitara is gonna become a regular unibody based Crossover and AWD, no low-range option. Bye, old Vitara.

BS. I drive a 2400 petrol, good engine good mpg. Its a car for working not showing off. Very reliable, well build. forget those inferior Jeep sheit. GV have low range gearbox and so on plus traction control. Check out youtube what a GV can do off-road. A Compass is for wet grass.
