2010 Toyota Camry Water Leak in Front & Rear Passenger Floor

2010 Toyota Camry Water in Front & Rear Passenger Floor When Raining. Applies to all cars and automobiles.
Check for 3 possible root causes: windshield seal, disconnected drain hose, or clogged drain line.
The root cause is the clogged drain line. We found debris and leaves blocking the drainage causing the water to flow to the cabin intake airflow leading to the front passenger interior.
Because I always park under a tree for six years, the leaves buildup finally blocked the drainage for rain water.

Great video. I had two problems with water coming in my car. One was because the AC drain hose was plugged. I fix this by using a vacuum cleaner at a car wash. I climbed under my car and put the powerful vacuum cleaner up to my AC drain hose and sucked out whatever it was that was clogging the line. This fixed one problem but I still have a problem with water leaking in my car when it rains outside so now I’m going to address the cowling issue and pull apart my cowling and clean it. If you have a sunroof in this model Camry, it will often leak from the passenger side c pillar and leak on the rear seat. If so, remove passenger side interior c pillar between rear door and rear glass, remove rear passenger grab handle, pull headliner down and you’ll see the rubber drain hose that often comes detached.

I have a 1999 Camry with this same issue... I've checked the A/C drain hose and it doesn't seem to be clogged... How easy is it to take off that cowl vent below the windshield wipers and where is the drain located under the vent?

Thanks for the video. My 2010 Camry had a wet carpet on the front passenger side. I peeled back the carpet and lifted the AC drain tube from its exit hole in the floor. I used my air compressor to blow air up into the hose. About a cup of water poured out of the tube. I assume the compressed air cleared the blockage.

Wife’s 2012 Toyota Camry SE has wet/soaked floor boards, then the alternator went bad, so it sad for a month. I just replaced the alternator today, and found the whole car got moldy or with fungus!! Now that the alternator’s fixed, time to solve this wet floor boards issue! I was not able to see the a/c hole when you removed the cowl, where is it?

I have a 2008 Toyota Camry, and I’m having the same problem however I’m going to have to take it to a mechanic because I have no help to figure out what is exactly is? The front passenger is damp while the rear passenger & driver are soaked. Def need to get it fixed before the mold build up.

Well, tried all three of the possible areas on our 2014 Camry. Drain tube in the passenger footwell fine, cowl drain fine, windshield fine. Any other ideas???

Steven Welker hello Steven, check the sunroof drainage and the windshield exterior drainage if u park under a tree causing leaves buildup clogging the drain.

@@michaelcalderon1 Hello and thank you so much for this video! I'm also experiencing this in my 2014 Toyota Camry SE- no sunroof. I began to notice a mildewy smell and decided to check the floorboards for water. Sure enough, the right side passenger floor is wet ( not soaked, but obviously wet enough to cause a smell). I realize that I park under trees where a lot of debris and an INSANE amount of leaves accumulate. My fingers are crossed that the problem is ONLY a clogged AC drain!

Hi michael, I am using toyota camry 2006. My auto carpet gets wet easily in rainy day, specially the passenger side rear door. I think improperly installed urethane that caused a windshield to leak water into the vehicle from outside. It occurs only during rainy day otherwise its okay. What should I do now? please suggest me.

Shantu Ghose I’ve got the same issue, during rain my passenger side gets waterlogged and it’s coming from somewhere through the floor under the dash. It’s got me stumped though because it’s coming in low to the floor not from higher up and running down. If you found out where on yours please let me know.

that front grill under windshield is called a Cowl...you failed to mention Sunroof REAR an Front DRAIN/s tubes get clogged and sometimes come off, clean them out with weed eater trimmer and light compressed air, run some water thru them to clean out. Sunroof is a BIG culprit! cheers!

I'm having this issue, big time, with the rear passenger floor being half filled with water ONLY when it rains. And, just the last month. And the last 2 storms, this week, being really bad. I've never ever had such an issue! It's wet in the front passenger floor too, but not filling w water like the back. I'll have to have someone take a look at these things, and hope it'll be just an easy fix... But, omg, how to dry it all out after?! I want to cry... Right now, I'm sopping it up w towels. I don't have a wet/dry vac, & the car wash up the st. has a ton of vacuums, but they say Not for wet surfaces. I am just using old junk towels, a ton of them, soak it up, wash them, dry them, and back to the car to soak it up again. It's ridiculous, lol, and taking dayssss... I actually have a friend that said I can swing by & use hers. So this weekend, I will... But it still won't be completely dry...

Wet vac and hot sun...leave car open for days. Lock your glove compartment and put dog by car park it close to house...air it out in sun

@@michaelcalderon1 Lol, I had it clean and dry...then it leaked again. I went through all the check list...drainage holes, seal around door, windsheild, window, ac, you name it. It was in an accident before Ibought it and had a dent in the window area of the door frame and I even started looking for a new door. I got it to slow leak, but never did get it to stop. I gave up in Feb and bought another car. Sold the toyota to a Metal worker and he figured it out right away...the door had dropped a little, so he was going to just adjust the door when he got it home. Its a nice little car once its all figured out and washed AGAIN and dried out. The guy who bought it has an echo and loves it so he grabbed this one too. It was getting too small for me, lol, I bought a 4 door....with electric windows, hahaa!! I also got tired of having to say One Min!!! And crank roll my window down, hahaa!!! Thanks for this though!

KINGARTHUR3341 good question. I vacuumed and fan the interior for a long time like 3 hours and left the windows open for two days until all carpets are completely dry.

You can use baking powder or carpet fresh which would absorb the water and some smell, and use vinegar or ammonia. Just as long your not seeing a lot of black mold.
